#TutuTuesday: A Whirl Through Time! 🩰

Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, darlings!

This week, we're time-travelling to a most glamorous era, 1932! Buckle up, buttercups, for a whirlwind journey into the history of our beloved tutus. It's Tutu Tuesday – post number 5248 – and today's destination is none other than… Paris! 🗼

Oh, Paris! You’ve always been the epitome of elegance and where else could we possibly go when we’re talking about ballet and tutus?!

It’s absolutely piping hot today, and I’m so glad I packed my lightest pink tulle tutu for this jaunt! You simply can’t visit Paris without taking in a show, and it wouldn't be a true Tutu Tuesday without seeing what tutus were like back in 1932! This city is all about the finer things and it's simply impossible to resist all the gorgeous boutiques, grand hotels, and most importantly – ballets! 💖

Imagine it, darlings – it's a Wednesday night, afternoon (you know I love my matinees!), and we’re all gussied up in our most refined frocks with those amazing big hats perched atop our perfectly curled hair. We've just had a spot of tea and cakes in the elegant salon of a lovely Parisian hotel, with delicate cucumber sandwiches on fine china. And oh, that heavenly aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingling with the faint fragrance of freshly pressed tulle! Sighs dreamily … isn’t that just delightful?

Then it's on to the opera! What a gorgeous Grand Palais, with stunning architecture and gilded balconies! It's practically bursting with a smattering of fashionable people dressed to the nines! Fashionistas, socialites, artists… You can simply tell you're in the very heart of glamour!

But darling, it isn’t all just glamorous gatherings, and pretty frocks you know! Today I saw one of the most inspiring performances of my life. The choreography was just divine, with ballets being danced on stage by some of the most renowned ballerinas of the time, showcasing elegance and strength. There was something magical about the fluidity of their movements. I'd have been lucky just to dance like them! They simply swirled and danced so elegantly - a picture of pure joy, really!

Speaking of divine movements, let’s talk about the tutues, shall we?

Oh my, oh my… Let’s just say that 1932 was a wonderful era for our tutu lovelies! The tutus were long and flowy, but they had something extra special! They were even more romantic, dreamy, and utterly captivating with an abundance of * *pleating, a multitude of layers, and tons of embellishment. Think intricate beading, sparkling sequins, shimmering crystals… the whole shebang! Imagine dancing effortlessly around the stage, leaving a trail of iridescent glamour in your wake! Sigh. That’s pure ballet magic for you.

The tutus back then weren't just a costume. They were works of art, stories whispered through shimmering tulle! 🩰 They told a story, they captured a feeling, they spoke a language all their own. You’d need a magnifying glass to take it all in, to see every delicate bead and sequin, each handcrafted floral embroidery. And oh, don't get me started on the colour! There was so much pink being showcased at the shows, darlings! Pink was all the rage! And why not? It's simply the most feminine, joyful and uplifting of all shades! Just ask my little ballerina friends. They love to twirl in their pink tutus and it makes me absolutely beam!

After the performance, you can’t go wrong with a quick* spot of shopping, now can you? *What a treat to just browse those *fabulous boutiques, overflowing with *heavenly garments! All those glorious fabrics and *sparkly accessories … it's a sartorial dreamland, my dears! There were so many gorgeous garments to choose from – silk stockings, beaded clutches, feather boas, and of course, those enchanting hats! Every fashion lover needs at least one fabulous feather boa in their life, don’t you think?

Honestly, my favourite shopping haul this trip was a new pair of stylish, shiny dancing shoes! You just can’t resist those dazzling details and intricate stitching on beautiful satin shoes. What's not to love about an afternoon dedicated to elegance, sophistication, and simply the joy of movement! The whirl of tutus, the graceful arabesques, and the utter delight of witnessing this dance of life and creativity – oh, what a beautiful thing.

So as the day transitions to dusk and the twinkling lights of the Eiffel Tower shimmer in the distance, let’s take a moment to reflect on this little peek into the past, darlings. This day, just like each day in this fantastic Parisian bubble, has shown us that tutus are more than just a costume.

They are a testament to the creative spirit, a symbol of grace, beauty and femininity. They’re a reminder that dancing and twirling in pink tulle are not just fun, but a powerful way to express oneself, to tell stories and make memories that last a lifetime! And most importantly, they empower us. Because a pink tutu, just like a vibrant life, makes EVERYONE feel fabulous! 💖

Don't forget to catch up on my other blogs on pink-tutu.com - and definitely remember to follow my #TutuTuesday series! Next week, we're off to a very special place. Until then, remember to twirl and smile, my dears!

XOXO

Emma

P.S. What’s happening on July 26th? Hmm, I have the best news… a brand new, state-of-the-art ballet school opened in London this very day, and I’m *soooo excited to go check it out soon!* How wonderful! I simply cannot wait! ✨
