#TutuTuesday: A Trip Back to 1932 - A Time for Ballerina Elegance! 💖🩰

Hello my lovelies!

Welcome to #TutuTuesday, the day we celebrate all things tutu! I'm your trusty guide, Emma, a Derbyshire girl who believes in the transformative power of a good pink tutu.

This week, I've journeyed through time once again. This time, my fancy pink tulle is swirling in the air of 1932! As a dedicated ballerina and fashion devotee, you can bet your ballet slippers I headed straight to the theatres and the shops of the 1930s to get the inside scoop.

**(Psst! Did you know I'm funding my time travel adventures by performing ballet shows across the ages? Each performance takes me somewhere exciting! 🤫🩰).

Ballet's Big Moment: 1932 and its impact on tutus:

1932 was a real whirlwind of a year in the world of ballet! We saw the rise of ballerinas like the incredible Anna Pavlova who was captivating audiences with her stunning technique and graceful style. A star truly lighting up the world. You can imagine how my tutu-loving heart was bursting to see those fabulous shows! I wouldn’t be surprised if Pavlova was inspired to create her own new tutus – who doesn’t love an extravagant new design?!

What made the tutus special then?:

Tutues in 1932 weren't the only dancewear choice. The ballerinas had other lovely options! You might spot a pretty silk or satin skirt with lace frills, giving an elegant flow and a wonderful 'twirl-factor' in their dances. Think graceful waltz steps and light as air movements in this style.

*Let’s Talk Shopping and Tutu Styles! *

The tutu in 1932 really started to embrace an exciting era! Imagine swirling silk and delicate, pretty layers. There were even a couple of tutus made with feathers – a little extravagant but stunning, if you can believe it!

Now, you can’t just walk out in a tutu. What goes with a tutu, my lovelies?

  • Matching Tights: Imagine the sheer silk tights – almost transparent, but still elegant!
  • Ballet Slippers: Perfect for graceful pirouettes and a hint of glamour, of course.

I mean, it was just all about the romantic ballet! * 💖🩰*

*(Of course, my time machine lets me skip any boring parts of the journey! I love being in the 'golden era' of tutus when everyone wanted to wear pink! 🌸 💕) *

*Where did people wear tutus then? *

Well, as any fashionable ballerina would tell you, a tutu is good for more than just dancing! Think fashionably, my dear lovelies, *fashionably!! * I spotted beautiful tutus featured in the 1932 Fashion Week Shows, giving a graceful touch to outfits, and we’re talking big ball gowns with tutus layered on top, you can't imagine the dramatic silhouettes. Now that's real couture for you!

Don't think of the tutu as just for ballet performances. People wore these gorgeous creations to theatre parties and glamorous soirées, making them a favourite fashion statement in their day! Imagine tutus, a splash of pink in those gatherings - I’d just adore it! 💖

*My 1932 fashion inspiration: *

My own style this week has a little 1932 charm. I’m keeping my favourite, fluffy pink tutu in tow, but I've added some pearl necklaces to add some shimmery sophistication to the ensemble. And don’t even get me started on the hair, because big rolls and swirls are essential – just ask the fashion experts in the 1930s !!

(It’s fun to see a dash of history and bring those style elements in my fashion too - just another benefit of time travel!! 💃).

It's time to close up my diary, but remember:

Be brave and always wear pink! Remember to embrace your love for tutus! I’ll be back next week with more amazing Tutu Tuesdays!
