#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History - 10th January 1933

Dearest tutu-lovers,

Welcome back to another #TutuTuesday, my darling darlings! This week, we're travelling back in time to the 10th of January 1933! And trust me, thereā€™s plenty to get our tutus in a twist about. It's a bit chilly here in Derbyshire, England, so I'm feeling especially grateful for my fluffy pink tutu today. You wouldnā€™t catch me without it, my lovelies! It makes me feel so grand.

Speaking of grand, how absolutely splendid is this date? Itā€™s a date to remember! Remember why? Oh my, darling, we have the most divine pas de deux to thank for that. Why, just this very day in 1933, a ballet dancer, oh-so-talented and radiant, performed a very special show with none other than the Nijinsky! Imagine the excitement!

Now, I'm all about a dazzling performance, and today, we're diving into the finest tutu trends of the time, from the enchanting to the absolutely ethereal.

Ballet Under the Spotlight: Tutus and Elegance

Imagine the stage: A spotlight beaming, a single rose held with a dancer's grace. Itā€™s a scene, darling, that conjures such beauty. It reminds us of why Iā€™ve devoted this entire blog to tutus! To share my love, darling, my adoration of those oh-so-feminine masterpieces, every Tuesday.

Now, back to our lovely history lesson. If you're imagining the stage, weā€™re going to Paris. The birthplace, darling, of modern fashion! That's where, oh, I am going! Itā€™s where these magnificent, graceful creations, the tutu, truly shine. In 1933, a whole new era of delicate, airy, exquisite tutus were gracing those grand stages of Paris.

The Rise of the Romantic Tutu

Oh, darling, they called it "The Romantic Ballet." Itā€™s not simply a term but a way of life, a philosophy, even! In 1933, they werenā€™t calling it ā€œ#TutuTuesday,ā€ but oh, they did appreciate a well-placed, well-cut, perfectly tailored, oh-so-dreamy ballerinaā€™s tutu.

Remember my lovelies, back then, it wasnā€™t just about tutus. The movement, the posture, oh, everything had to be perfectly, impossibly graceful, dreamy. Every dance, a symphony of beauty. Imagine, dancing on clouds, all ethereal, all beautiful! Imagine!

Fashionable Tutu Delights:

In 1933, darling, the tutu was the centre of it all! They were light, made of gauze or silk, oh, how they flowed, like liquid, almost. They weren't quite like the layered, stiff tutus of today. These beauties were dreamy, oh, just so light, and poetic! Just imagine, my lovelies, a perfect circle of sheerness as a dancer leaps, a perfect silhouette with a bit of shimmer. Just heavenly.

Tutus and Travels

After my grand performance in London yesterday (so many wonderful ladies stopped to say they loved my pink tutu - it makes me beam), I've splurged on a delicious first-class train ticket. After all, even travelling requires a little glam, right? Iā€™m just about to hop aboard, arriving in Paris shortly, darling!

It is a fashion city with a history as deep as a ballerinaā€™s well-worn leather pointe shoes, and oh, what delights await. What treasures might be found! The boutiques and ateliers in the chic Parisian quarter promise delights! Just dreaming about the divine, magnificent shops there - all those dazzling fabrics, textures and shapes for tutus! I am simply radiant with anticipation!

I can barely contain my excitement, my lovelies! Don't you think a delightful trip through time with the most delightful ballet-loving blogger ever would be simply divine?

Sharing My Passion:

Why oh why, do you think tutus have captivated the hearts of fashion lovers all across the globe, my dear tutu-lovers? Why has the ballerina, in her magnificent, enchanting tutu, captured hearts for centuries?

Tutus embody dreams, my lovelies. They bring out the inner ballerina in all of us. They remind us to dream big, to dance, to embrace life, to shine like the star we are inside. Oh, you might be saying, Emma, we don't need a tutu for that, darling. Well, maybe not.

But they make us smile! You see, the little girl within us just can't resist the appeal, can she? Oh, if we could all just embrace the freedom of twirling! Can you imagine wearing pink tutus every day?! Wouldn't that just lift the spirits? Oh, imagine how the world would be different! A little more sparkle, a little more light, a little more joy.

Well, darling, we will simply have to hope and dream, as we are whisked through history with #TutuTuesday!

Until next week my lovelies, take a twirl, remember to wear your own, perhaps a little bit of pink, and shine your brightest, and I will be here to share the secrets of fashion tutus forever!

Bisous,
Emma
