#TutuTuesday: A Trip Through Time! - Post 5317
Hiya darlings! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-wearing time traveller, back again for another dazzling #TutuTuesday! Grab your champagne and a delectable macaron, and let's embark on another enchanting journey into the wonderful world of ballet history, together!
Today we're taking the Orient Express right back to November 21st, 1933 - imagine a whirlwind of stylish flapper dresses, dashing gentlemen, and, of course, those divine tutus! Now, 1933 might sound like a distant whisper from another era, but ballet, just like fashion, is a language that knows no time barrier.
Paris: Where Ballet Truly Twirls
Oh, how I love Paris! It's the undisputed queen of ballet! This year, the Paris Opera Ballet are dazzling audiences with "Le Lac des Cygnes" โ the exquisite "Swan Lake." Just picturing the ethereal ballerina gliding on pointe, her tutu billowing, with the entire audience holding their breath! Swoon
A New Style of Tutu
Now, imagine a ballet tutu, a touch shorter than its predecessors, perfectly complimenting the lean and athleticism of the dancers. 1933 brought a new fashion to ballet, a sleek and streamlined approach to the tutus - just divine, like a beautiful blossoming flower, delicate but sturdy, a vision in movement. Think ballerina blossoms!
London Lights and a Hint of Nostalgia
But who could resist a trip to London? Itโs absolutely bursting with elegance! This November the Royal Opera House is featuring "Giselle," a romantic and beautiful ballet filled with expressive movement. This piece reminds me that, although ballet has transformed throughout the years, the essence of its emotions stays as vibrant as ever. A perfect combination of power, emotion and grace โ the art of a true ballerina.
On the Same Date in History
1933 saw some monumental events! Can you believe that the "first transatlantic airliner flight" took place this very day! Talk about flying high! Now imagine this: The future, all around us, ready to be discovered. As for me, it's exciting to think about the ballet trends this year, that have gone on to inspire the future of the artform!
Keep Your Eye on the Tutu
My darlings, as we delve further into the world of tutu history, youโll notice how ballet tutus, just like fashion, evolve and shift with time. Yet the joy and the artistry remain unchanged โ and the pink tutu? A timeless staple, always relevant, always adorable. I'm so glad I get to share these moments in history with you. Now, it's time for me to hop on another train journey, maybe even a hop in the sky in my vintage, pink, airship!
Until next week, keep your eye on the Tutu and dream big!
Yours,
Emma.
