#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: 10th July 1934 - Post #5350

Hello darlings! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, dedicated to all things pink and tutu-tastic! It's a glorious #TutuTuesday and today we're time travelling back to the fabulous 1930s - oh, the glamour! This week I've got some truly sensational news that has my tutu swirling in excitement. Get ready, because we're talking tutus and all the exciting goings-on in the world of ballet!

From Derbyshire with Love

Before I whisk you away to the thrilling 1930s, a quick update from my own little corner of the world, Derbyshire. You wouldn't believe the fabulous vintage boutique I discovered last weekend, crammed with exquisite silks and shimmering velvets, just begging to be transformed into the most beautiful tutus imaginable! I had a glorious time browsing amongst the treasures, picking out some gorgeous fabrics for my next big tutu project, all inspired by this incredible trip we're going on together today.

Time Travel: A First-Class Ticket

Time travel is a joy - imagine, the world at your fingertips! For today's journey, I've booked a first-class train ticket, which is truly the only way to travel in style. The anticipation is electric! We're off to Paris, the city of lights, where ballet is practically in the air - so fitting, isn't it?

Paris, Mon Amour!

Now, back in 1934, Paris was the centre of the ballet world. Just imagine the elegant ladies, decked out in fabulous hats and flowing dresses, heading to the most magnificent theatre buildings - talk about a fairytale! I've even heard there are glamorous ballrooms filled with exquisite gowns and the most dashing gentlemen - tutus just naturally go with these sorts of affairs!

10th July, 1934: What's in store for the Ballet World?

On this day, 10th July 1934, there was some really special happening at the Opéra de Paris. I just know it's something that would make even my own tutu twirl with excitement! You see, in July, it's peak ballet season, especially in the gorgeous city of Paris. Can you imagine - dancing under the sparkling French summer skies? This means there's always something enchanting going on.

Oh, I can picture it so clearly: beautiful ballerinas swirling, elegant dancers leaping with grace, all wearing tutus that are truly magical, crafted from the finest silk, maybe even lace or tulle! I would love to see these performances, wouldn't you? Just imagine how stunning these 1930s tutus were!

The Ballerina’s Fashion: 1930s Elegance

What I wouldn't give for a glimpse into a 1930s wardrobe! I bet there were so many stunning gowns and elaborate costumes. Now, I am all for fabulous dresses - the longer the better, for extra swish - but can you really beat a ballerina's tutu? Those perfect layers of tulle, designed to twirl and flow, are absolutely magical, don’t you think?

Imagine, dear reader, a ballerina taking centre stage in a beautiful, full-length tutu. Her costume is the epitome of femininity. Just the vision of a pink, or even a gorgeous coral tutu is so magical, I find it a bit heart-stopping! Imagine how she must feel on stage. The applause, the lights, the beautiful costumes, it must be truly awe-inspiring.

What we are doing to inspire others to wear a pink tutu

The amazing thing is that ballet and tutu-love transcend time. Every Tuesday we look at a special date in tutu history and find that, every week, our journey tells us that ballet, the magic of dance and our love of tutus are alive and kicking in so many different periods. There is a reason for our obsession, a reason for this history blog: The perfect tutu is timeless, darling, and can elevate any outfit! I truly believe that every girl and every woman can feel special and elegant wearing a pink tutu.

So, do join me, dear reader, on our little adventure, where every Tuesday we can explore these wonderful connections in a fabulous time-travel ballet tutu adventure - there is something amazing to find out about our favorite fashion accessory every single Tuesday! Oh! Did I tell you I have been invited to the Royal Ballet this year? I am so thrilled, I just know that my new tutu creation - I can’t reveal more! - is just the thing for this magical event.

*Stay stylish my dears and make sure to join me for the next #TutuTuesday journey! *
