#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History, 29th January 1935 (Post #5379)

Hello my dearest Tutu Twirlers! Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com for another Tuesday of time-travelling fashion fun! Today we're swirling back to January 29th, 1935 for a peek at the tutu world back then. Buckle up, darlings, it's a bumpy ride through the decades!

Oh, my goodness! What a journey this week's been! I hopped on a steam train in my lovely pink tutu - my new silk one with the sparkling embellishments, just perfect for a 1930s train ride. It's funny, they think it's all so strange, all these people in 1935! Me in my fabulous tutu and little ballerina shoes, and of course, my beautiful vintage hat. They keep looking and looking at the pink satin bow on my headband... And then there's me - trying to blend in with a vintage-style hat and my usual ballet class bun (it took three tries before I got it looking right!). I am definitely standing out from the crowd!

So, where have I been this week? Why, none other than New York, the dazzling heart of ballet and fashion! What an incredible place! My favourite part, apart from the glorious ballet performances of course, was spending hours exploring the glamorous department stores. My goodness, those women are a vision in those perfectly fitted dresses! Just think, these women are paving the way for all our modern fashion! They've definitely got style! I am utterly in awe of these stylish ladies in their luxurious fabrics and their sleek, tailored dresses and suits. Just exquisite!

But you know me, it's all about those tutus. 1935 is still a little different to how we see them today! Back in this period, there weren't as many layers to the tutu! Imagine! They wore single, smooth layers! I know, crazy, right?! I felt very proud in my fluffy layered tutu...

This era also marked a huge step for ballet history! The lovely Russian ballerina, Irina Baronova, is captivating audiences everywhere! This young dancer made her debut with Diaghilev's Ballet Russes, and she's just on her way to being one of the most adored ballet stars! Imagine, dazzling the stage in a beautiful pink tutu... I wish I could see her in action, wouldn't that be incredible?! I bet she dances in a beautifully, elegant, and perfectly crafted, multi-layered tutu - my kind of ballerina!

Oh, what a fabulous week this has been! The fashion! The tutus! The sheer brilliance of seeing this era of dance with my own eyes!

I must dash, however, for there are some major vintage finds for my wardrobe calling! I can just see the perfect hat and gloves to complete my 1935 ballet enthusiast outfit!

See you next week, darlings!

P.S. Speaking of fashion, be sure to check out this website I discovered for vintage clothing inspiration. You can find all kinds of charming dresses, hats, and yes, even tutus (though those aren't always my style).

P.P.S. I almost forgot! Did you know today's the 1935 annual National Academy of Sciences Awards?! What a way to end such a grand week! Let me know in the comments what you thought about 1935. And if you have any time travel adventures of your own, I'd love to hear about them. Now off I go to find my perfect 1930s hat!
