Tutu Tuesday #5619: The Allure of a "Pink Tutu"! 🩰

Hiya Darlings! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, Pink Tutu. It’s Tuesday, which means it's time for our weekly jaunt into the world of ballet and, of course, the glorious tutu!

This week, we're hopping on the train (did I mention I love trains? They're so glamorous!) and setting off on a whimsical journey to the 5th of September 1939, just a few weeks after war broke out. Even in these challenging times, there's always time for a dash of pink and a twirl in a tutu. 💕

Now, while the world may be turning a bit grey, it's still a brilliant time for a ballet! In 1939, London’s Royal Opera House, known as Covent Garden to all you lovely folk, is hosting a special matinée. I’m dying to know what they’re showing. The dancers would have been so incredibly talented, their graceful movements creating a tapestry of movement and music! I'm hoping they have some stunning costumes. Imagine a pink, swirling, ethereal tutu floating under the theatre's grand chandeliers - pure magic! 💫

Back then, tutus were a little bit different from what we see today. Imagine layers and layers of tulle, creating a breathtakingly voluminous effect. And wouldn't it be lovely to slip on a satin-trimmed dance shoe for a graceful stroll through the theatre? 👠 The beauty and artistry of those pre-war tutus is almost impossible to replicate today - I'm planning to do a bit of research and perhaps a little costuming, if you know what I mean! wink wink 😉

For you fashion-loving darlings, it wouldn’t just be about the tutus on the stage! Let’s be honest, we all love a bit of fashion, right? In 1939, ladies wore dresses with intricate detailing and delicate patterns - imagine some pretty pastels paired with those stunning tutus I've been describing - a real dream! The clothes were tailored to perfection and you’d definitely see ladies in their best hats and gloves as they enjoyed the theatre’s charm and spectacle. 🎩🧤

The good thing is that, no matter where in the world we are or what era we find ourselves in, the joy and passion of ballet are eternal. Just like the enduring power of the pink tutu, it remains a symbol of elegance, femininity, and pure, unadulterated delight! 💗

Now, my loves, I’m absolutely dying to get to Covent Garden! My ballet class starts in an hour, so I’m off to practise my pirouettes and find the most beautiful pink tutu for the show tonight! And remember darlings: Embrace your inner ballerina! Go forth and find your perfect tutu - whether you’re on a stage or just enjoying the simple act of wearing one.

I'll catch you next Tuesday, Emma 💕

P.S. Do you have any photos of tutus from 1939? If you have, share them on our Pink-Tutu website and I’ll pick my favourite for next week’s post!
