#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History - Post Number 5936
Greetings fellow tutu enthusiasts! Itās your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger, Emma, back with another installment of #TutuTuesday, this week diving deep into the world of ballet tutus, exploring what life was like for dancers in the fascinating year of 1945!
This week's journey takes us all the way to New York City, where the fashion is always in full swing! Did you know, in 1945, there was a certain buzz about the āNew Lookā, all thanks to Christian Dior. You know, he is the name everyone loves to utter. His famous Dior dress with the wide skirt and the nipped waist? That's the look that really captured the hearts (and the hips!) of the ladies! I was just absolutely floored to witness all the elegant lines, the glamorous silks, and that divine shape! Talk about elegance, darling!
A Look Back at the 1940s Tutus
And speaking of elegance, let's step back into the world of ballet. Imagine this, dear readers! The war is just over, and the world is finally beginning to exhale! This era, you know, it really was the ācoming of age' for the romantic ballet tutu. It had become so much more streamlined and refined, just like the fashion on the street. The ballerinas looked incredible on stage - light as feathers, delicate as dewdrops!
But in 1945, the classic romantic tutu was already a big star on the ballet scene! Think of Margot Fonteyn and her iconic performances. Just heavenly! This style, I assure you, was absolutely all the rage back in those days. Think of a multi-layered skirt, a bodice that clings like a second skin, and, oh, darling, it was all just perfect for highlighting the feminine beauty of movement.
Tutu Spotting - The Glamour of New York
Of course, no trip to New York would be complete without a little tutu spotting, and I canāt deny my wanderlust was absolutely on overdrive this trip. As I cruised the streets in my vibrant pink tutu, I just couldn't help myself but feel that joyous sparkle within my heart. As always, New Yorkers were mesmerised and couldn't help but stare!
So, I popped over to see a show, āThe Firebirdā, starring the incomparable Maria Tallchief. Imagine, dancing on stage with an impossibly flowing red, fiery tutu, it really took my breath away! I mean, to be there to witness it in all its glory was magical. It felt like a true embodiment of both strength and beauty - something I always feel my beloved pink tutu encapsulates!
Travelling Back in Time (On The Orient Express Of Course!)
So, where to next, I wonder? It seems a little European adventure is calling to me, and I wouldn't want to miss this opportunity to share it with you, dear reader. Of course, itās no trip without my beloved pink tutu. And just to be sure, I think a few beautiful new outfits have joined my wardrobe, I've fallen head over heels for them already.
Well, darling, until next week when we discuss all the incredible outfits from this journey. Do come back and join me! Happy #TutuTuesday and donāt forget to wear your tutu, itās a statement piece that screams āEleganceā āHappinessā āJoyā āFunā all in one. After all, it's never a bad time for a bit of PINK TUTU!
