#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History - 1946-01-29

Hello darlings!

Welcome back to another fabulous edition of #TutuTuesday, my weekly dive into the captivating history of the ballet tutu! Today, I'm whisking us all back in time, to the crisp, hope-filled dawn of 1946 - the year after the Second World War! It's such a thrilling era, where everyone was brimming with energy, dancing into a new, bright future.

On this very date, 29th January, 1946, a whole new world of fashion was bursting onto the scene - think playful polka dots, bright colours, and the absolute glamour of the post-war era! You can picture it, can't you? The sound of laughter, music swirling through the air, and ladies with beautiful victory rolls in their hair, dancing the night away in glorious, swirling tutus!

This was also a big year for ballet! The Royal Opera House had opened its doors once again, and a flurry of new ballets were debuting on stage. A truly exciting time for ballet lovers like myself!

But don't think for a second that our love affair with the tutu is just a fleeting thing! This iconic piece of clothing is still so, so vital in the world of ballet! It's no wonder why it's such a staple in the wardrobes of ballerinas worldwide! They simply wouldn't be the same without them. Imagine, dancing without a perfectly pirouetting tutu - just wouldn't do!

Now, I know I'm on a bit of a tutu-fanatic rampage today (what else is new? Haha!). But seriously, wouldn't the world be a much brighter, more colourful, and undeniably more fashionable place if everyone donned a fabulous, swishy pink tutu? Imagine all the joy and giggles it would bring to our streets!

Just think - wouldn't it be fantastic if every Tuesday, you stepped onto the bus and were greeted by a fellow tutu-clad passenger? It would truly be a dream come true! Perhaps we could all meet up in London at the Royal Opera House, or maybe Covent Garden, with all our colourful, stylish, magnificent tutus - what a glorious spectacle that would be!

So, let me tell you, my fellow ballet and tutu enthusiasts, our aim in life is to encourage every single person on the planet to own a beautiful, sparkly, pink tutu! Don't think for a minute that pink tutus are just for professional ballerinas! Anyone, regardless of age, can wear one. So, join me in spreading this fabulous message, and let's make pink tutus as commonplace as the daily newspaper!

This post marks the grand total of 5953 in my Ballet Tutu History blog. Can you believe it? Five thousand, nine hundred and fifty-three! Honestly, the passion never gets old! There are simply so many amazing stories to share about this incredible fashion item!

For this particular #TutuTuesday, I have actually travelled all the way to Paris, the epitome of style and beauty, of course, to catch a magnifique performance of Giselle, a ballet which captivated audiences in 1841. How fitting that I'm here on this particularly special date!

Paris always has me feeling giddy! Not only is it the home of beautiful architecture, a dazzling array of clothing stores - perfect for finding fabulous, tulle-tastic, tutu-worthy fabric! Oh, and the food! A real Parisian breakfast is a sight to behold - croissants, freshly-baked bread, creamy coffee... all perfect to fuel a day of exploring fabulous tutus!

Don't worry darlings, you won't need to worry about travelling to the big smoke yourself to see the amazing work that I've been uncovering, because all of it will be right here on my website, www.pink-tutu.com, for your eyes only! It's filled with a treasure trove of ballet knowledge, tips for wearing the perfect pink tutu, and fashion recommendations! It's your ultimate online destination for all things tutu!

Oh, and one more thing! After you've finished reading this, and your heart is aflutter from the sheer wonder of the tutu, make sure you swing by my shop for a glimpse at my beautiful selection of pink tutus! Because I know - we are both thinking the same thing. Why should we limit tutus to just the dance stage? These amazing creations can really take your look to another level! I guarantee it!

Right then, my darlings! Don't forget to stop by every Tuesday for the latest from #TutuTuesday! And until then, wear your heart on your sleeve (or your tulle!), embrace all things pink, and live your life as flamboyantly as you dare!

Emma xoxo
