#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: August 12th, 1947! 🩰

Hello darlings! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where tutus reign supreme! It’s your favourite tutu-loving blogger, Emma, back for another #TutuTuesday adventure. I hope you’re all ready for a whirl through time, because this week we’re heading back to August 12th, 1947. Buckle up, because things are about to get twirly! 💖

The Magic of 1947:

Oh, darling, the air in 1947 is still buzzing from the end of the war! A time of rebuilding, of hope, and of a newfound joy in the simple things – like a beautiful dance. Think picture-perfect post-war glamour: sharp silhouettes, vibrant colours, and a touch of whimsy in every step. Now, let’s dive into the world of tutus!

The Ballerina's Dream:

While tutus were around even before this, in 1947, tutus are experiencing their true rise to stardom, darling! They were the quintessential symbol of elegance and femininity. Think flowing tulle skirts, shimmering under the stage lights, perfectly complementing the graceful movements of ballerinas.

My Tutu Journey:

Oh, you wouldn't believe my excitement, darling! Today I found myself waltzing through a quaint ballet studio nestled in the heart of New York City. Can you imagine the sheer magic of the room? I found the most darling tutu, a vibrant cerise with hand-stitched rosebuds around the waist. Such artistry! My heart skipped a beat, and I just had to twirl. The way the tulle danced in the air – just pure poetry!

Today's Inspiration:

So, darling, on this fine #TutuTuesday, I challenge you to let your imagination run wild! Let's channel the post-war spirit and find that special touch of whimsical grace. Wear your brightest colour, dance with joyous abandon, and embrace the beautiful power of movement.

And don’t forget to keep your eye on my website, www.pink-tutu.com for the latest tutu-licious updates! Now, excuse me, I’ve got some fabulous fashion and some incredible ballet performances to catch up on – maybe even find some inspiration for my next tutu ensemble! 💖

Stay fabulous, my loves, and remember: tutus make the world a brighter place!

*Let's take a step back in time! *

  1. On August 12th, 1947, India became an independent nation! Isn't that fabulous? Just think, a whole new nation ready to embrace the magic of ballet.
  2. And speaking of magic, we are celebrating the birthday of the beloved singer Stevie Wonder! A true icon with his heart set on making the world a more beautiful place. A beautiful thought to go hand-in-hand with a tutu, wouldn’t you say?

This week's Tutu Tuesday Fun Fact!

Did you know, darling, that before the 1830s, tutus were actually ankle-length and the ballerina's ankles were often completely hidden! I’m so glad times have changed and that now we get to show off our amazing feet in the limelight! 😉
