#TutuTuesday: A Glimpse into the Twirling History of Tutus! (Post #6690)
Hello darlings! It’s your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller, Emma, back with another dose of #TutuTuesday! Today we're hopping in my trusty time machine and travelling back to 15th March 1960 – oh my, what a fabulous era for tutus!
Remember my mission, my lovelies, is to spread the joy and wonder of the tutu – a garment so graceful, so ethereal, it's practically begging to be twirled in.
Let’s face it, London is the place to be when it comes to ballet history. It's all happening here – Covent Garden, Sadler's Wells, and even the local theatres buzzing with dazzling dance productions. I can't get enough! Today, though, we’re not in London. We’re whisking ourselves over to Paris.
Paris, in 1960, is positively exploding with artistic energy. Think fashion houses showcasing the latest styles, and ballet studios bubbling over with youthful talent. We're stepping into the Parisian atmosphere, where the tutus are light, the styles are whimsical, and everyone’s got a love for ballet – at least, that's the vibe I’m picking up from this fantastic time period!
Today in Paris, 1960, it’s all about ballet! I just witnessed a stunning performance at the Palais Garnier. Oh, what an incredible sight! They call it the "temple of opera", but I see it as the temple of elegance! I've never been so enthralled.
Now, my dear fashion-loving friends, what does a Parisian tutu in 1960 look like? Imagine the lightness of tulle, a flurry of flowing, airy fabric, perfect for those incredible spins and leaps that make your heart skip a beat. This isn't the stiff, heavy skirt of a Victorian-era ballet! It's delicate, almost translucent, letting the dancer’s graceful form flow effortlessly. The colours – ah, they're divine! A touch of romanticism mixed with bold artistic strokes. It's no wonder these Parisiennes make a tutu look utterly chic!
The ballet performances I'm seeing this week in Paris have made me absolutely bursting with inspiration! It's ignited a passion for new tutu styles in me. Picture this, my darlings: a simple pink tulle tutu, the kind I simply adore, adorned with exquisite Parisian lace. Imagine the most delicate hand-painted designs in shades of pink, lavender and cream. Now, add a touch of glitter, for some added sparkle. That's the kind of dreamy tutu I'm yearning for right now!
After all my explorations, I've found a little spot just near the Eiffel Tower for the most exquisite ballet shoes. Oh, the craftsmanship is impeccable! You wouldn't believe the tiny ribbons and delicate stitching! And just look at the craftsmanship – such attention to detail!
Today, however, we must take the train! That's how we fashionable types get about – it’s much more charming than driving. Think of the romantic train journeys, sipping a cuppa and enjoying the changing scenery as the wheels clickety-clack over the rails. We can get to our next destination in a flutter. Where am I heading next, my darlings? Well, that's a secret I'll have to share in the next #TutuTuesday! But, hint, hint, I've got my eye on a ballet shop… oh, the exciting things to come!
But until then, keep twirling, my friends! Don't be afraid to experiment, try new styles, and express your inner ballerina – even if you're just strutting down the high street! You'll never regret a moment in your tutu! Remember, I love a pink tutu, so embrace that pink! Pink power, my friends, pink power!
Till next week, my dears! Keep dancing and stay fabulous!
XOXO
