Tutu Tuesday: A Glimpse into the Glamourous Past! #6717
Greetings, my dearest tutu enthusiasts! Emma here, your time-travelling ballerina blogger, and it's a glorious #TutuTuesday! Today, we're taking a little trip back in time to the 20th September 1960 - a time when the world was captivated by the elegance of ballet and, of course, the delightful allure of the tutu!
As I stand here in my shimmering pink tutu (naturally, pink is the colour of joy!), I'm feeling rather reminiscent. It's not everyday that one gets to travel back to a time when tutus weren't just for dancers! I mean, imagine! Ladies of society wearing tutus to evening soirees - pure magic!
My journey today brought me to London - a bustling hub of glamour, theatre, and oh-so-much ballet. Can you imagine? Seeing the Royal Ballet strutting their stuff on the stage of the Covent Garden, their shimmering tutus a symphony of grace and beauty. This date in history, my dears, marked a milestone for ballet. The Royal Ballet was performing "Giselle", one of my all-time favourites! The story of the betrayed maiden is utterly heartbreaking, and the exquisite costumes are absolutely breathtaking! I practically had to pinch myself to remind me I was back in time!
1960 was a year of change and growth. Fashion trends were becoming more diverse, but one thing was for certain: the allure of a ballet tutu remained timeless. A symbol of elegance, grace, and feminine beauty, the tutu was a powerful statement of sophistication.
But where can one even find a beautiful pink tutu in the year 1960? My darling, that's the beauty of my job - researching, learning, and enjoying every inch of history! Thankfully, London is a haven for ballet shops! In my whirlwind tour of the city, I found myself captivated by the charming “Harlequin Shop" in Kensington - they sold absolutely delightful ballet wear, from beautiful tutus in every colour you can imagine, to the most elegant shoes you've ever laid eyes on. This was where I found the most perfect vintage pink tutu, with just the right amount of fluff!
While enjoying a delightful afternoon tea, complete with scrumptious cucumber sandwiches (a necessary fuel for a fashionable ballerina, you know!), I saw a fantastic performance in Piccadilly Circus. Can you imagine? A group of ballerinas dancing amidst the bustling crowds! Now that's what I call ballet street style. They were a breath of fresh air! A group of young, graceful dancers, reminding us that ballet is an art form meant to be shared, appreciated, and enjoyed by all. It truly inspires me to continue promoting our love for all things tutu!
You see, my mission is to inspire everyone to embrace the elegance and beauty of the tutu. I want to spread the love for this captivating piece of dance attire all across the globe, one dazzling pink tutu at a time. Whether it's for a ballet class, a birthday party, a street performance, or a romantic evening out - tutus should be worn by everyone who wishes to embrace their inner ballerina!
As the sun sets on this fabulous day in 1960, I find myself already dreaming of my next journey! Where will my next adventure take me? You'll have to join me next Tutu Tuesday to find out!
But remember, my loves, every day is a perfect opportunity to dance, to twirl, to express your unique beauty. Wear your pink tutu with confidence! And remember, the world needs more tutu-clad individuals, brimming with passion and elegance!
Until next Tuesday!
Emma
