#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History - September 13th 1960! 🩰✨

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back with another thrilling chapter in #TutuTuesday, the most delightful journey through the captivating history of ballet tutus! As usual, my trusty pink tutu is accompanying me on my adventure, and trust me, this trip through time is pure magic! 💫

This week we're swirling back to September 13th, 1960. Just picture it: the year of Elvis Presley's biggest hit, the invention of the laser, and a very special ballet performance that changed the way we look at tutus forever. But first, let's grab a scone and a spot of tea before we take a leap into history, shall we? 🫖

The Parisian Promenade

Today's stop finds us in Paris, France, the ultimate hub of fashion and culture. Even in 1960, this enchanting city is buzzing with an infectious energy that puts a pep in your step (and a twirl in your tutu!).

We're standing before the magnificent Palais Garnier Opera House, its grand facade a testament to the beauty and power of art.

Oh, the ballet is so much more than just dancing! For me, it's a magical blend of storytelling, visual art, and emotional expression. It's a symphony for the soul that sweeps you away in its spellbinding story and artistry. Just a glance at the gorgeous costume sketches makes me want to step back into the theatre and be swept away!

The Ballerina and the Tutu

I’ve got to tell you about today’s extraordinary performance - a new, innovative ballet called “La Valse”, which was set to music by Maurice Ravel. This performance was a sensation! We’re lucky, darling, because we get to experience it from the front row!

Imagine the anticipation as the lights dim and the orchestra starts their graceful melody, all eyes fixed on the curtain, eager for it to rise. Suddenly, a flurry of shimmering silk and satin materialises. That's The Ballerina, gracefully spinning in the centre, and oh my, what a masterpiece this tutu is!

Today’s tutus have undergone a beautiful transformation, taking on a more expressive, modern look, embracing the spirit of the new era. This particular tutu, a perfect embodiment of "La Valse", has layers of ethereal fabric, moving with fluidity and lightness as she dances. And let me tell you, dear readers, its pastel pink is quite stunning! Pink is so elegant, it always has the power to create a romantic air – a look I simply adore!

### Travel by Train

Well, I’ve got to rush! A new era is calling! My tutu’s waiting for a new adventure. It’s just me, the French countryside, and a magical journey aboard a steam train to discover what’s next!

We're heading for Derbyshire, England, where the rolling hills, enchanting castles, and traditional countryside villages offer inspiration galore for a new pink tutu design. After all, a ballerina’s never done with creating the perfect tutu for every story!

Stay tuned for more of my travels in tutu time, darlings! It’s going to be a whirlwind of excitement, style, and a touch of magic! 💫

Love,

Emma 💋
