#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History - 10th April 1962 - Post Number 6798!
Hello my darling tutu lovers! Emma here, back with another delightful journey through Ballet Tutu History! Buckle up, my dears, because today we're waltzing back to the wonderful world of 1962, where the tutu was a symbol of grace and glamour!
The sun is shining, a fresh spring breeze is whipping through my pink tutu, and the air is buzzing with excitement! Oh, how I love a good day out. Today, however, it's not just any day, darling. Today's the day I'm stepping back into the fabulous fifties!
Oh, and a cheeky little tip from yours truly - you can’t truly enjoy the excitement of fashion from 1962, without a delightful pink tutu twirling right alongside you. And let's be honest, every day is Tutu Tuesday in my book, darlings!
But back to 1962, shall we? This particular date marks the anniversary of...
A momentous day for ballet in America - The premiere of 'The Firebird' by the American Ballet Theatre.
You see, darling, this date was simply brimming with enchantment and ethereal grace. You know how much I adore a good ballet show! Oh, to have seen it performed right here on the very stage of New York's Metropolitan Opera House... pure magic, I say!
I just adore how the ballerina's outfits for 'The Firebird' are all about drama and colour! Just like a gorgeous pink tutu, but with a touch more fiery feathers! I simply must get my hands on a reproduction tutu of this majestic and enchanting design! Now wouldn’t that be a tutu marvellous thing?!
Let’s delve deeper into the fashion of this glorious time. I love the 1962 outfits so much that I’m going to visit Harrods later this afternoon to get a glimpse into the styles from this year, so you can get inspired for a stylish outfit for your next ballet event. Fashion is so closely intertwined with the history of the ballet world! Oh, to have danced alongside all of those fabulous and beautiful women! Sigh.
I’m taking the train into London today – nothing like a vintage dress and a big, frilly pink tutu, coupled with the charm of the journey and the buzz of London! That’s how I make sure to enjoy each day as an opportunity for fashion, ballet, and a touch of magical whimsy!
I think a little about my own time. While there's no place like home for a Derbyshire girl, there's a whole world of ballet, shopping and excitement out there, all waiting to be discovered. And you know what? You don't need to time travel to experience it all!
This past week, I had a simply heavenly time in London! A stunning show at the Royal Opera House, and I picked up some fantastic new additions to my wardrobe from the most charming boutiques – you'll be seeing those on my blog soon, dearies!
Remember, darling, tutus aren't just for ballet! I’m all about finding the fun in everything and dressing up to make each day a tutu celebration of the whimsical side of life. So, why not wear a pink tutu this week for something tutu special? And don’t forget to share your own fabulous fashion choices with me – we’re a tutulicious community of tutu lovers!
Well, my lovelies, it's time to say adieu for now. Off I go, twirling off to explore more sartorial wonders and ballet-inspired beauty! Don’t forget to keep your tutus out and your spirits high – I’ll be back next week with another #TutuTuesday!
