Tutu Tuesday: Back to the Fabulous Sixties! #6871
Hello darlings! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet where pink tutus reign supreme. It's Tutu Tuesday and this week, we're taking a time machine back to the glorious 60s, specifically, September 3rd, 1963!
Now, let's imagine it, darlings! Imagine London, buzzing with energy, a city brimming with artistic life. The Beatles are just starting to make waves and there's a fantastic new theatre production of 'A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum'. A new trend is sweeping through the fashion world with bright colours, and geometric prints. Everyone's swooning over the stylish shift dresses and those gorgeous 'Go Go' boots. And amidst this exciting energy, we've got ballet – it's becoming more accessible than ever!
Taking Tutu Trends To The Streets!
Imagine this: the thrill of seeing a ballet performance, a swirl of beautiful tutus in shimmering white or pale pink! Just watching them float across the stage is pure magic. But imagine also the magic of being able to take those incredible trends to the streets. It's the most fantastic time for expressing your personal style with fabulous frocks and vibrant colours! Imagine, a pink tutu paired with a chic shift dress! It's like an elegant twist on 60s fashion and that’s something I just adore!
But Why is it Such a Special Date?
Now, you're probably wondering, why this date in particular? Well, 1963 marked a special moment in ballet history. This year saw the grand opening of the renowned Royal Ballet School, it's become a haven for young ballerinas dreaming of taking centre stage. Now, let's be honest, a ballerina with a pink tutu just oozes charm and confidence! It's almost like the perfect symbol of the joyous energy in the air.
The Majesty Of The Stage, and a Shopping Spree!
But as a true ballet devotee, I had to visit the theatre, naturally. The excitement was just palpable! The lights were shining on the stage, music filled the air, and the costumes… ah! Imagine shimmering silk tutus with feathers and jewels – pure theatre magic! You simply couldn't leave without a touch of ballet inspiration for your own wardrobe, now could you? That’s why I hit Covent Garden Market for a little shopping spree! It’s the place to be, with its selection of dazzling dresses, accessories and most importantly, some lovely little lace trimming for my pink tutu!
Time Travel Tales & Tutu Tales!
Oh, and did I mention I hopped on the train back home, after the show, with my mind full of new ideas? Just like everyone, I find it quite a treat to travel on a grand train, even more so when the journey is part of a time travelling adventure! But I’ll keep that part a little secret. However, I can tell you that after returning home, I immediately settled in with a mug of warm tea (always my favourite) and a bit of research! You know, how it’s done: Ballet history, costume design, a touch of vintage fashion, anything really! So I have lots of new insights for future blog posts for you! I hope to have your curiosity piqued.
Pink Tutus - They Never Go Out Of Style!
One thing is certain, tutus will never truly go out of fashion. Whether they're twirling on stage or gracing a street-style moment, there’s a charm in their cuteness and elegance, a timeless element to be embraced! They symbolize so much: dreams, grace, and the art of beautiful movement. And we could all do with a bit of grace and beautiful movement in our lives, don't you think?
Now, I know I keep saying it but this is where you come in, my dear readers! We've talked about how amazing ballet can be! It can help us connect with beauty, with our creative spirit and let’s not forget about those amazing dresses and tutus. It’s something special! Now go ahead and try something daring – wear a touch of ballet inspiration, be bold, and spread the love for the most incredible tutu there is, the one in – wait for it – pink!
