Tutu Tuesday: The '67 Twirl – Post 7045
Hello darling Tutu Lovers!
It's me, Emma, back with another #TutuTuesday from the whimsical world of ballet history. Grab your favourite pink tutu (it goes without saying!), settle in for a journey back in time and let's get twirling!
Today, we're time-hopping to 3 January 1967 – the year of love, of revolutionary change, and yes, of fabulous dance! Oh, the thrill of the past!
Now, 1967 saw some truly remarkable things happen, but for us, it's all about the dance! Imagine it, darling. We're in the heart of London, the city that just can't get enough of a good tutu! The air buzzes with excitement. Theatres hum with anticipation. And everywhere you look, graceful ballet shoes tap-tap-tap on the cobblestones!
But first, let’s get back to me. My name's Emma and I'm from Derbyshire, just like a real life ballerina straight out of a fairytale! My mission? Well, my dearest tutus, it’s simple: I’m on a quest to get the whole world to embrace the sheer delight of a pink tutu! (Can’t you picture it?! It would be magnificent!).
I manage my own ballet blog - you're looking at it, right here - at www.pink-tutu.com because, well, let’s face it, what better way to document my adventures than with my own little slice of the internet!
My own ballet career, however, takes me around the world, from glittering London stages to Paris’ grand theatres. I'm on a perpetual journey through time, funding my travels with the magical enchantment of ballet performances! What better way to live? And, let's be honest, it gives me a prime vantage point to track those breathtaking ballet trends!
Back to 1967, you ask? What happened on this date? It's all about the magic of theatre, and we're in for a treat. If you find yourself in London (I happen to be there myself – just had a delightful afternoon in Harrods picking out the perfect pair of white gloves to complete my next show outfit!) , there’s no better way to spend this Tuesday evening than at The Royal Opera House.
They're hosting a very special performance tonight: "The Sleeping Beauty." Just picture it, a world of ethereal romance, spellbinding beauty, and - you guessed it! – a gorgeous array of tulle! The audience will be entranced. There’ll be applause, a scattering of well-timed "ahs", and a palpable feeling of pure magic. The whole experience is enough to make you feel like you’re stepping into a fairy tale!
Now, 1967 isn’t exactly known for its embrace of colour (Oh, the shame! It wasn’t pink at all!), but we, we ballet aficionados, know better, don’t we? We love a good splash of vibrant, captivating color and a generous dose of tulle in our tutus. Think the graceful, ethereal swirls of "The Sleeping Beauty" with its pastel colour scheme – how perfectly timeless it looks in these historic photographs, isn’t it?
It’s amazing how much "The Sleeping Beauty" shaped the world of dance, don’t you think? You see its influence on everything, from the modern interpretations to contemporary ballet pieces. Its romanticism lingers, creating a kind of ballet-lovers’ tradition - a connection through the ages!
Remember that next time you put on your own pink tutu, and get lost in the world of dance. This magical moment, this connection between centuries, will be there, and it’s simply wonderful.
Here’s a thought, darlings. Do you know where you will be this Tuesday evening? Will you be twirling at a performance? Planning a special ballerina themed meal with friends? Let me know! I want to hear all about it, even if it's just a virtual pink-tutu themed picnic under the stars.
Don't forget to check out my Pinterest boards – I update them weekly with a little inspiration. Think tutu history, my own collection (I adore it! My favourite one, however, is my one of a kind pink feather tutu. A must-have if I say so myself!) , fashion ideas and anything pink. The link's in my bio!
Stay fashionable, my dear tutu friends!
Your fellow ballet-enthusiast,
Emma.
