#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History - Post #7051 - 1967-02-14 - Paris, My Darlings!

Oh, hello my beautiful darlings! It’s Emma, your Pink Tutu aficionado, here with a whirlwind of a post all the way from the charming, cobbled streets of Paris! Can you believe we are travelling all the way back to the glorious 1960s? This trip, as always, was made possible by a fantastic ballet performance - and I shall be telling you all about it, because a new ballet I tell you - is the perfect place to see the very latest trends in tulle!

Now, as you know, it is my lifelong mission to get everyone on the planet dancing, spinning, and twirling in a gloriously pink tutu, and what better day to start that than a Tuesday, right? Today we’re going right back to 1967-02-14, and what a beautiful, chic time in Paris it is! I’m absolutely delighted to be wearing this divine new pastel pink tulle, gathered and soft as a baby’s cheek, and my matching bolero jacket, perfectly on trend and with an exciting dash of pink lace trimming!

Let’s start with that divine ballet I mentioned. A beautiful Parisian production of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, and oh, how I adore Swan Lake! Just the romanticism, the swans, the graceful movements! The dancers were perfectly adorned in white tutus, the swans themselves, just perfectly fluffy and oh so, oh so delicate! Oh how they pirouetted! I almost spun my own tulle, right there in the audience, watching them! And you know what my dears? This ballet was simply bursting with history, just as much as the tulle and the dancers themselves. And wouldn't you just love to see a tutu dance history play about it all, featuring my, well slightly more elaborate version, of this iconic look? It'd be called "Swan Lake with a pink twist"...

So let's take a deep dive into the fabulous, tulle-ful history that happened right here in this romantic, oh so fashionable, City of Lights on 14th of February 1967! You won’t believe this – it’s the anniversary of the premiere of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake… just 100 years ago! * A whole century, my darlings! Can you believe it?! Oh how time flies when you’re having fun! But it’s not all tutus and history, oh no. Today, I've also got my eye on some truly splendid French fashion - and as you know, this week it’s all about that pink. * The colour pink is the absolute colour du jour here in Paris, right now and a very glamorous choice indeed, because after all, Paris is the fashion capital! The perfect opportunity for me to get my Pink Tutu Blog read around the world, spreading that fabulous pink tulle fashion!

I just knew that the Paris of 1967 would have some divine outfits on show for this Valentine’s Day and the anniversary of Swan Lake. There's an exquisite feeling in the air right now - I just want to twirl like those amazing swans, and look divine and just adore myself. You see, a touch of tulle makes everything feel utterly delightful. I found the perfect pair of new heels in pink silk, for a bit of a romantic twirl (a tiny detail that can make such a big difference!), and you know a new beret in pink, is utterly essential to finish the look! I was so inspired to buy a few extra for my other adventures in time. It would be lovely if my Tutu Tuesday readers got their own to complete their Parisian pink look, if only for the weekend.

The colours on display are truly inspiring. There are a few new trends in fashion this season that I shall share with you now - they really speak to the spirit of that classic ballet style! Of course, a great A-line shape for that graceful tutu shape - perfectly elegant and always chic. And if you really want to make an impression this season - how about the classic black-and-white? That is what all the really stylish Parisian ladies are sporting. I see some really divine geometric shapes too - my eyes have been firmly fixed to some chic ensembles - with lines and zigzags. Just lovely for a fashion-conscious dancer! A few daring designers are experimenting with textures and fabrics - you should just see how chic it looks, oh my. And as I said before... my dear lovelies... pink! There's nothing that shouts fashion and Parisian style, better than a spot of pink!

For any future Tutu Tuesday blog posts in Paris, I'm certainly going to pick up some of these trendy, exciting patterns, and just imagine the photo shoots I’ll do! We’ll all have some fabulous, twirling photo shoots, to get everyone inspired. Think of those stunning outfits… but all with a little hint of Pink! I just can’t get enough of that Parisian joie de vivre.

Speaking of joie de vivre, Paris is positively buzzing with the most charming boutiques, selling all the very latest in tulle - oh, my dears! And so I had to spend an evening shopping for Pink Tutu inspiration. Paris, my love! A fashion haven, you see! It was there that I met a sweet lady who was actually involved with ballet when she was younger! Now, can you believe that? Imagine how lovely that was! We had the most divine chat all about her experiences - you see, it wasn’t just all ballerinas - they also danced with feathers too. How exciting! A truly inspiring chat and she gifted me an antique fan, from a vintage theatre. Now that is the perfect touch for the ultimate Parisian pink tutu ensemble. Oh how much I wish we could meet up with you and dance our days away, wouldn't that be simply amazing?

Anyway! After I've enjoyed this absolutely glorious time in Paris, I must tell you about my upcoming plans! There’s some amazing travelling in the schedule. A trip on a fabulous new train - oh! You should just see this train! It’s in mint condition! It’s an exciting adventure across the channel, with amazing views and comfy seats...and just imagine the amount of tulle that'll be flowing on this train trip! Just wait for my blog post about that - the photo shoots are going to be FABULOUS!! The great news is I've already bought myself the perfect ensemble for the journey. You just have to see my latest creation - it's a pink tweed jacket and the new matching pink boots! I'm already starting to get really excited!

Oh my darlings! I simply must finish this blog post right now and get back to planning my exciting trip on the train. I can already hear my tulle fluttering in the breeze! Until next Tuesday!
