This week, we’re whisking ourselves back to August 20th, 1968. What a fabulous time to be alive, wouldn't you say? The world was abuzz with exciting fashion trends, and the ballet world was no exception!

This time, I’ve travelled right to the heart of the ballet world – New York City, a city where the air practically crackles with artistic energy! Now, I can’t possibly leave you hanging without some insider gossip, so picture this: The Metropolitan Opera House was gearing up for its 1968-1969 season! They were prepping a dazzling lineup that included everything from the majestic ‘Swan Lake’ to the contemporary ‘The Rite of Spring’. Can you just imagine? Those iconic tutus swirling on stage…pure magic!

Now, 1968 was an exciting year for fashion, darling! Think mini-skirts, vibrant colours, and that gloriously bold, rebellious spirit. You know what really catches my eye? It was the year when the infamous "mod" style really hit its stride, and the ballet world, of course, couldn't resist taking a peek! Think sleek, geometric designs, bold lines, and even the occasional burst of colour in their tutus!

You know how much I adore travel and it truly fills my heart to learn about how ballet danced across continents, charming audiences worldwide. This date saw an exciting flurry of activities, with shows happening in cities all over, showcasing both classical ballet and innovative contemporary pieces! Imagine being swept away by the enchantment of such extraordinary performances!
Keeping it Real:
As much as I adore the glamorous side of ballet, darling, I know it wasn’t always glitter and glamour. There were also those brave pioneers who broke barriers and defied expectations. The 1960s, like any era, saw its share of struggles. Yet, despite everything, the dancers never faltered, striving to make a lasting impact with their grace and artistry!
