Tutu Tuesday #7237: A Trip Back in Time! 🩰

Hello my darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina blogger, Emma, back with another instalment of Tutu Tuesday! Today, we're hopping aboard the time machine and taking a trip back to September 8th, 1970. Fancy a little blast from the past, lovelies?

Now, I know what you're thinking: "Emma, 1970?! That's way before tutus were a thing! Wasn't it all just sensible skirts and jumpers back then?" Well, darling, hold your horses! While the tutus of today might be a tad more flamboyant, even back then, our little ballet dresses were stealing the show!

Today's journey whisked me straight to London's Royal Opera House, and let me tell you, it was glorious. The air crackled with anticipation for a performance of "La Sylphide," a romantic ballet from the 1830s, considered a classic of the time. Think wispy, ethereal costumes, fluttery tutus and a dash of romantic storytelling – the perfect combination!

Of course, tutus in 1970 were quite different from the big, poufy numbers we see today. They were much simpler, with less layers of tulle and often a more fitted silhouette. But they were still beautifully crafted, a symbol of grace and elegance on stage. I couldn't help but imagine myself dancing among the delicate fairies in that show.

After the performance, I had a delightful time exploring London's Covent Garden. The market was brimming with bright colours and vibrant chatter, the smell of fresh fruit mingling with the excitement of the bustling crowd. You know me, my dear readers, I couldn't resist picking up some juicy oranges to nibble on while I popped into some vintage shops, searching for a touch of that 1970s magic to bring back home with me.

Back in my time, my dear darlings, tutus have become a huge part of our fashion landscape! From street style to the runway, every ballerina worth her salt wants to own at least one pink tutu. We see them everywhere – worn with jeans, leggings, even dresses!

I'm telling you, tutus are the perfect statement piece, not only for dance but also for express yourself with a touch of whimsy and elegance. They say so much about your personal style! Don't you agree?

So, as you continue your day, dear readers, why not inject a bit of that Tutu Tuesday magic into your own outfit? Even if it's just a hint of pink!

And, of course, let's not forget what brought me to London: The wonderful world of ballet! If you have the chance, do go and see a ballet performance – it truly is an unforgettable experience. The costumes, the music, the choreography – it's a masterpiece of artistry that never fails to enchant!

Remember, my loves, tutus aren't just for dancers! Embrace your inner ballerina, let your heart lead the way, and remember to always spread a little bit of pink tutu joy wherever you go!

Until next time, darling!

Emma's Time Travel Blog:

I fund my time travelling exploits through my performances, a fact which I'm very proud of. There's nothing more exciting than taking my little pink tutu on an adventure to explore the world of ballet through history. Each trip inspires me, allowing me to weave personal experiences with a dash of history into each of my blog posts.

And who better to do this than me, Emma? I'm obsessed with all things pink, especially those sparkly tutus! I live for the grace of classical ballet, and I also love seeing bold, new, modern creations on the stage. I simply have to catch a show at the Royal Albert Hall or the Sadler’s Wells Theatre whenever I can. And while you're at it, a little stop for shopping is a must, especially if you're going for a vintage look. After all, where would our fashion world be without its roots in the past?

My travels may take me to different eras, but there's one thing that always remains constant – my unwavering devotion to promoting the tutu. It’s an icon for strength, creativity, and beauty. Whether it’s worn on stage or out and about, it represents the joy and freedom of expression!

And if I can encourage just one more person to don a pink tutu and dance, then my job here is done! πŸ’–
