#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History - September 1st, 1970 - Post #7236! ๐Ÿฉฐ

Hello darlings! Welcome back to another delightful edition of my #TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History blog! It's Emma here, your very own pink-tutu-wearing time-travelling ballerina blogger, back with another trip into the dazzling world of ballet fashion.

I'm sitting here in my darling little Parisian flat, sipping a cup of Earl Grey with a dash of honey (don't you just love a bit of luxury?), and preparing to share my latest discovery. Today, I've swished my way all the way back to September 1st, 1970, and let me tell you, darling, this date was quite a stunner. I'm always excited for these historical dives โ€“ a little glimpse into the past, you see?

Now, I know what you're thinking โ€“ 1970! That's such a glamorous era. All those flared trousers, disco beats, and, of course, those breathtaking tutus that would make any ballerina swoon.

This week, darling, I'm taking you to the stage, but this time, I'm not focused on a specific ballet. I'm focusing on the ballerina, herself! I was so lucky to see a fabulous performance by a young dancer named Sylvie Guillem, a star of the Paris Opera Ballet.

Oh my, darlings! Sylvie, she truly is an absolute treasure. I'm talking effortless grace, powerful jumps, and those dazzling en pointes. Now, she wasn't wearing a classic romantic tutu โ€“ these days, they were really focusing on sleek, modern looks. This, my dear, is why I find this era so interesting. A little bit of classic, a whole lot of modern. A delicious blend, I think.

And guess what? Sylvie's performance happened on September 1st, 1970. I was on the edge of my seat (and yes, darling, in a delightful pink tutu, of course!) watching every delicate movement. She wore a stunning costume โ€“ a leotard with this fabulous layered skirt that flowed as she danced. Absolutely captivating, darling.

The whole experience, delighted me, dear reader. Seeing those incredible moves, those shimmering costumes, it really takes your breath away.

Oh, and the atmosphere in the theatre that night was absolutely electric! I always feel so alive in the theatre, the air charged with energy from the audience and the performers. This time was no different โ€“ you could truly feel the love and admiration for the art form.

Time-Travelling, Style Inspiration

You know, darlings, I truly love travelling through time to see how fashion evolves. The tutus in the 70s? Well, they were much more relaxed and flexible. We are talking free movement, more leg exposure (always a great look!), and all those sleek lines, darling. The tutus in this era weren't so much fussy โ€“ think more of graceful, modern forms.

That said, let's not forget the power of pink! I have always adored pink โ€“ and my goodness, it was in fashion in the 1970s too. Think pink satin, baby pink, pink tulle, and even, dare I say it, a splash of fuchsia! There was a lovely touch of romance to the fashion that really reflected those beautiful ballets.

My Darling Pink-Tutu Dreams

It always brings a giggle to my heart to watch a dancer move gracefully in a delicate pink tutu โ€“ a colour that symbolises joy, grace, and femininity, darling. Don't you think that pink adds a bit of extra magic to ballet? I truly think it does! It's the ultimate statement for any budding ballerina.

That's what I aim for, darlings! To spread this delightful pink tutu energy throughout the world. One pink tutu at a time. If you can find your inner ballerina, trust me - it can really change your perspective. Youโ€™ll move with more grace, poise, and elegance.

Remember, my dears, every little detail โ€“ from the shimmering costumes, the beautiful music, and the delicate elegance of the ballerinas โ€“ adds up to make every performance a magical experience. Iโ€™m excited for my next trip into the whimsical world of ballet. Let me know where you want to travel to, my darlings, I may just make it happen!

Until next Tuesday, keep dancing!

Your ever-so-fashionable time-travelling blogger, Emma xx

Extra Bits for my Darling Readers

A Bit of Extra Magic: Remember how I mentioned that the iconic Sylvie Guillem performed that night? Well, the ballet was "La Source." It's a pretty classical ballet โ€“ that's part of why the performance stood out to me so much! The contrast of the old and the new, really. Love it!

I Do Love Fashion

Oh, you'll never believe this, but guess who was at the Paris Opera Ballet on September 1st, 1970 โ€“ Yves Saint Laurent! A fashion icon and a visionary! He always added his incredible touch to everything โ€“ the beauty of simplicity. You can imagine, I almost fainted with delight! It was such a treat to be in the same space with such a great creative force.

A bit of a side note: It was around this time that I was struck with an absolute craving for delicious Parisian pastries. Now, that's just another benefit of being a time-travelling ballet enthusiast. If you happen to be in Paris yourself, darlings, do yourself a favor and check out the "Maison Ladurรฉe" โ€“ delightful pastries! It's like stepping into a fairytale!

Have fun and donโ€™t forget to join me next week for another adventure into #TutuTuesday! ๐Ÿฉฐ
