Tutu Tuesday #7332: Back to the Swinging Sixties!
Hiya darlings! Itās Emma here, back with another exciting trip through time, brought to you, as always, by my trusty pink tutu. Today, weāre taking a twirl back to the groovy year of 1972! I'm so excited because this decade was absolutely bursting with fabulous fashion, and who doesnāt love a bit of 70s style? Think disco balls, bell bottoms, and of course, gorgeous tutus!
Letās hop on the Orient Express (because travelling by train is so much more elegant) and imagine ourselves whisked back to July 4th, 1972. The day's festivities? Itās Independence Day in the United States, which means lots of dazzling parties and even more dazzling outfits. Now, remember my mission here, darlings? To get everyone wearing a pink tutu! We may have a bit of work ahead of us as the fashion of the day was all about bold, eye-catching colours and funky prints. Donāt get me wrong, I absolutely love the 70s! Think floor-length floral dresses with wide, flowing sleeves and some truly fabulous platform shoes. I mean, where else can you pair a pink tutu with knee-high boots? And remember, my dear readers, any excuse to put on a tutu is a good one.
Of course, I was so thrilled to find that tutus are still as popular in the ballet world! In fact, thereās this magnificent ballet production coming up in New York that sounds utterly fabulous. āThe Sleeping Beauty,ā based on Tchaikovskyās most beautiful and romantic score! The original was created way back in 1890. Imagine a fairytale unfolding with dazzling sets, beautiful costumes and talented ballerinas swirling across the stage in, you guessed it, tutus!
Now, speaking of ballerinas, we must pay homage to the fabulous Martha Graham! What an amazing dancer, such incredible skill! Martha revolutionised the world of ballet with her bold, expressive dance moves and breathtaking contemporary work. Her commitment to the power of expression, individuality, and emotion makes her a true icon for our time. I always tell myself to have just a little bit of Marthaās daring spirit.
And I just love the sense of fashion that emanates from this era. It's all about a bit of flair, a touch of the bohemian, and an absolute commitment to fun! Let's face it, the more we wear our love for ballet on our sleeves, the better! In fact, 1972 might just be a time when you could confidently wear your favourite pink tutu, and, let's face it, even rock it on a Tuesday! Think about it! Itās a tutu revolution for our times! I know, Iām a visionary.
What about some fun, quirky fashion inspiration for your 1972 outfits? Look no further than those glamorous singers who captivated audiences with their beautiful voices, stunning style, and fantastic choreographies! Who else are we thinking about here, my dear readers? Let's make some noise for the amazing* ABBA!* How did I miss them earlier? They were at the height of their careers, their glittery costumes are almost enough to make you swoon, and just hearing their songs fills me with happiness! I always think to myself, "They're so fabulously 70s and yet timeless too". If I was ever offered a gig, it would be the one where I got to twirl on stage with them in their dazzling costumes. We all need more sequins and glitter in our lives, right?
Okay, ladies, now that weāve been transported back in time and felt the magic of the seventies, it's time for a bit of a wardrobe inspiration, darling! We can still keep the essence of 1972 while staying stylishly true to ourselves. Remember, the ultimate trend is being YOU! And just think, imagine yourself as a modern ballerina wearing a classic pink tutu in your everyday life - you'll turn heads everywhere you go, even at a cafĆ©! Just try to walk down the street looking effortlessly elegant while everyone stares and marvels at your tutu. My aim in life is to get every woman, in fact every single person on this earth, in a pink tutu at least once in their lives. I am on a mission and this time capsule adventure is just another step in getting me to achieve my dreams.
Speaking of achieving dreams, what is your favourite pink tutu, my dear readers? And what are your favourite seventies' outfits? Pop them in the comments and we can create a real fabulous Tutu Tuesday time capsule right here on www.pink-tutu.com!
Until next week, have a fabulously glamorous day, darlings!
All the best, Emma xx
