Tutu Tuesday: A Whirlwind Through 1973 - #7406
Hey my lovelies! Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink-tutu-clad time traveller! It's #TutuTuesday, and today we're taking a little trip back to December 4th, 1973, in the land of tutu-love, that's right, Paris, darling!
Imagine this, Paris is all twinkly lights and chic shops, everyone looking oh-so-fabulous in their own style, and of course, there's the unmistakable scent of freshly-baked bread drifting through the air - heaven!
Now, back to the reason why I chose December 4th 1973...this was the day when a special production of The Nutcracker opened at the magnificent Opéra Garnier. Talk about a ballet feast for the senses! Can you imagine the shimmering tutus swirling, the music floating in the air, the grand setting of the theatre itself? It must have been magical!
This time period was all about expressing your creativity and embracing the beauty of the world through fashion. Just picture the ballet dancers with their elaborate tutus, each design a tiny piece of artistry in itself! And think of the stunning gowns people would have worn to the ballet. All those silks and sequins – simply divine!
Of course, I couldn’t go to Paris without picking up some absolutely delightful pieces for myself. Imagine, a silk scarf for my ballet bag, a Parisian beret, and a charming antique tutu – a real treasure I discovered hidden away in a little boutique off the Champs-Élysées. A little birdie tells me this date is also the birthday of one of the world’s best known ballerinas, Sylvie Guillem!
Just thinking about all of it makes me want to dance a little pirouette right now!
But speaking of pirouettes, how about a quick detour from fashion to ballet technique? Did you know that back in the 70s, a whole new wave of ballet technique was being developed? This meant finding innovative ways to express dance movements, to tell stories with even more creativity, and pushing the boundaries of what was possible!
Imagine watching a performance, feeling the emotions through the dancer's movements, being mesmerised by the fluidity, and witnessing pure passion unleashed in the form of art! It was (and is!) just amazing!
So there you have it, another exciting journey through #BalletTutuHistory, this time landed right in the heart of Parisian culture!
Of course, before we say au revoir, darling, let’s not forget, our mantra is pink tutu love! What is more enchanting than a delicate shade of pink to complement the beautiful stories we dance in the world?
Just remember, everyone is special, everyone is beautiful, and we can all dance with joy and freedom. Go on, put on your pink tutu, let your spirit shine, and twirl your way into the world with grace and confidence!
I'll be back next Tuesday with more Tutu Tuesdays and travel tales. Keep an eye out for more of my adventures!
Stay glamorous, you pink tutu-loving beauties!
Bisous from Emma.
