#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History - December 11th, 1979 ๐Ÿฉฐ๐Ÿ’–

Hello darlings! Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, your one-stop shop for all things tutu! It's #TutuTuesday, and today we're stepping back in time to December 11th, 1979. Imagine it: shoulder pads are at their peak, disco is in full swing, and tutus are a symbol of grace and elegance, just like today!

This week, I've popped back to Paris, oh la la! The city of lights and love is also a hotbed of all things fashion and dance, and I just had to see what fabulousness was happening here in 1979.

From the Paris Opera to the Grand Boulevards:

Imagine my delight! On this very day, the Paris Opera was showing "Swan Lake". A classic, darling! Thereโ€™s no better way to experience ballet than in the heart of this grand theatre. The opulence! The detail! And, of course, the breathtaking artistry of the dancers in their delicate tutus, swishing across the stage like a flurry of feathers. ๐Ÿ’–

Fashion and Tutus, a Match Made in Heaven:

Let's talk tutus, because who doesn't love a good tutu?! This period, darlings, was a golden age for fashion. And believe me, tutus weren't just for the stage. From the iconic Dior designs to the avant-garde Yohji Yamamoto creations, everyone was channeling a bit of tutu magic! It was the era of layered looks, think floaty, tulle fabrics, and hints of ballerina chic woven into everyday outfits.

I even saw some absolutely smashing street style in Paris, darlings! It seems that even ordinary people, those not dancing at the Opera, were inspired by the graceful beauty of a tutu. Just think - imagine if we could bring that back! Imagine a world where tutus are a normal part of every outfit! (Maybe I need to invest in some time-travelling business, huh? ;)

Dance, Eat, Repeat:

This is Paris, darlings! So it was essential that I experienced the cuisine, and what better way to soak up the magic of this beautiful city than by savoring a delicious Croque Monsieur and maybe a tarte tatin for good measure!

Of course, no trip is complete without a bit of shopping! My favourite discovery this week? A small boutique that had the most delightful vintage lace trim. Just the perfect detail to embellish a new tutu, if I do say so myself!

Tutus and the World:

You know, darling, it makes me thinkโ€ฆ what's so great about the ballet world is that it's a place where creativity, expression, and pure joy come together to tell a story! And who needs to speak any language at all when you can express yourself with graceful movements and stunning artistry? It's universal. Just like tutus, really! ๐Ÿ’–

Until Next Week, Darlings:

Remember to wear your favourite pink tutu for a week of extra sparkles and joy. I'll be back next Tuesday with another #TutuTuesday adventure. Stay pink and fabulous!

Yours, Emma xx
