Tutu Tuesday #7734: A Tutu Tale from 1980! 🩰💖

Hello my darlings! Emma here, your pink tutu-loving, time-traveling ballerina extraordinaire, ready to whisk you back in time for another #TutuTuesday adventure!

Today, my dear friends, we're going all the way back to 18th March 1980. Imagine, the year disco still ruled the airwaves, leg warmers were practically a uniform, and… oh, let's not forget the tutus! They were definitely making a splash!

As I step out of my time machine and onto the streets of London, a familiar feeling washes over me: excitement and the promise of a good ballet show! This is a time where tutus were everywhere, darling – in the theatre, at dance schools, and even in fashion magazines! I'm loving the vibe!

Speaking of London, what's happening today? Ah, yes, it's a Tuesday night! And tonight's ballet at the Royal Opera House is "The Sleeping Beauty", starring the legendary Margot Fonteyn! I simply have to go, just to get a glimpse of this legendary ballerina! It’s going to be utterly fabulous.

Fashion Back in Time

Oh, my sweethearts, let's take a peek at the fashions in 1980. While I can't deny the allure of those incredible puffy leg warmers, tutus were definitely the centrepiece. Imagine them – beautiful layers of tulle in pale pink and creamy ivory, adorned with the most stunning sequins and embroidery, all perfectly fitted to capture the graceful movements of a dancer. The drama, the elegance! Just thinking about it makes me want to pirouette!

The Story of The Tutu

But, you know, even a beautiful garment like a tutu has a history, a journey from its origins to becoming a symbol of elegance and grace. It all started way back in the 18th century, in the world of the Ballet Russes! Their tutus were revolutionary - daring, playful and definitely eye-catching! From then on, the tutu's popularity soared, with new styles emerging – the Romantic tutu, the short tutu, the romantic and the classic tutus – each adding a new dimension to this elegant garment.

Tutus for Every Occasion

My darlings, in 1980, it's not just ballerinas who were enjoying the tutu! They were starting to appear everywhere - on fashion runways, in shops and on stylish ladies like myself! We're talking chic pink tutus with tailored blouses for afternoon tea or fabulous silver sequins for a night out dancing, all perfect for adding a dash of Parisian flair.

Time Traveling With Tutu

So, while I'm on this historical tour, let me tell you, nothing beats a train journey to really soak up the atmosphere. The gentle swaying of the carriage, the melodic rumble of the wheels, the passing countryside – it’s the perfect setting for my latest outfit to catch everyone's eye.

This week, I’ve paired my gorgeous, blush pink tutu with a pearl-grey cardigan, a delicate headband, and, of course, my favourite ballet shoes. Oh, and to make a real statement, a dash of pink lipstick. Why settle for less, my dear!

And you know what? I'm loving this trip! 1980 had so much personality, and the tutus? They're absolutely divine! But enough about my fashionable adventures. I have to go. I’m so excited for the performance and, after that, it’s shopping for more tutus for the weekend! Don’t forget, every Tuesday is #TutuTuesday on pink-tutu.com! You'll be finding all the best and most stunning tutus for inspiration.

Until then, remember, darlings, life is a stage. Embrace the beauty, the grace, the fashion and don't be afraid to embrace the magic of a beautiful, pink tutu! 💖🩰
