Tutu Tuesday: #7746 - Back to the 80s!

Hey darlings, welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! It's your favourite pink tutu wearing ballerina blogger, Emma, here with another fabulous Tuesday's trip into Ballet Tutu History. This week, we're going right back to June 10th, 1980!

Travel by Train

Ooh, wouldn't you know it, I caught the most gorgeous vintage train from Derbyshire - such a fab train with little plush chairs and a steward who gave me a special compartment for all my Tutu Tuesday outfits, bless him! Now that train, that would make a brilliant addition to a show. Imagine the scene; a little pink tutu clad ballet dancer stepping out of a train to reveal... Cue the music, curtains rise ... A full ensemble of sparkling ballet dancers!

Onward to New York!

It’s not just any old Tuesday; it's opening night at the New York City Ballet! I just had to make my way over there, tutus a-twirling. You wouldn’t believe how popular these grand openings are! This is where all the fashionistas and society’s most charming folks are - think sequins, shimmering fabrics and lots of laughter! I must say, even though I am more at home in my pink tutu, the fashion here really sets a girl’s heart aflutter.

Dancing with the Stars

This year, at the New York City Ballet, everyone’s buzzing about the new lead dancer, Mr. Mikhail Baryshnikov. Now, you know how much I love a handsome, charming ballet dancer. They say he’s absolutely mesmerising and brings something extra special to the stage with his incredible technique and poise - can’t wait to see what all the fuss is about! He’s also rather fetching in those white leotards, very classic and sophisticated. Oh, and a tutu on a man? Never say never, ladies, I bet we could get him in a tutu if we really set our minds to it!

The Big Debut

The ballet itself, "The Nutcracker," has always been such a special one for me. Those dreamy costumes! Oh my, what an opportunity for those imaginative fluffy tulle numbers, the soft colours and the gentle music – utter perfection for the ballet stage.

All that Fashion!

Oh, and speaking of costumes - there's nothing better than a fashionable Parisian dance-inspired tea room to round out my Tutu Tuesday adventure! You should have seen the elegant ladies, all draped in stylish garments – perfectly tailored trousers with a delicate silk scarf here, a luxurious velvet coat with a fur stole there. And they all wore their elegant hats perched on top of their beautifully styled hair! I swear, the shops here would give my best Derbyshire market a run for its money. I snagged a stunning pair of pale pink, high-heeled shoes that would look oh so fab with a sparkly silver tutu, wouldn’t you agree? Oh, the wonderful fashions of New York! The more I travel, the more ideas I get for tutus – we could incorporate a bit of Parisian glamour or New York's cool elegance... the possibilities are endless!

Sharing the Tutu Love

As I make my way back on the train, all tucked up with my lovely purchases and swirling about in my favourite tutu, I get a wave of pure inspiration - Tutus shouldn’t just be for ballet. This gorgeous garment deserves to be seen everywhere, everywhere! Just think of the looks! A beautiful, fluffy, shimmering pink tutu... It can be anything from a splash of fun in your everyday outfit to an eye-catching addition to your special occasions. And, if we’re really lucky, maybe we’ll see the day that our favourite male ballet dancer struts out onto the stage with a sparkling pink tutu, defying every convention, and stealing our hearts even further! I am telling you, this world just needs a little bit of Pink-Tutu and that's exactly what we're gonna do. Let’s dance!

Now go ahead, darlings! Have a go with the Pink Tutu. Embrace it! Go forth, find your own pink tutu, dance with it and wear it with confidence. Remember to stay pink, stay glamorous, and most of all, Stay Tuned for Next week's Tutu Tuesday Blog - I have so many more inspiring and wonderful stories for you from across the world!

Love, Emma xo
