Tutu Tuesday: The Big Tutu Bounce of '81 - Post #7825!
Hello my darlings! It’s Emma, your tutu-loving time traveller, here with another delightful dip into the delightful history of our beloved ballet tutus. This week we're taking a twirl back to December 15th, 1981!
It's Tutu Tuesday and you know what that means, it's time to get tuted up and feel absolutely divine in a little pink tulle heaven. I've been on the move again, travelling through the fabric of time, and landed smack-dab in the heart of a tutu-tastic decade! Oh, the glorious legwarmers, the neon pink leotards and the bounciest, fluffiest tutus imaginable!
Now, I might be a little biased towards the pink, but the '80s were a glorious explosion of colour! Tutus came in every shade imaginable: shimmering blue, bold orange, and even some sparkly rainbow versions that would make a unicorn weep with joy! It was a time of sheer tutufied exuberance, where the bigger, the brighter, the better!
This December 15th was just bursting with tutu-themed fun, even if I do say so myself! Imagine the sheer excitement of having your own tutu made by the grand dames of ballet costume making. The skill, the craftmanship! Why, there were even special classes on the proper art of tutus - from fluffing, to folding, to getting those glorious layers just so that you'd practically float across the stage. Oh, the sheer, joyous artistry!
Of course, we can't forget the grand spectacles of ballet! This time period was all about showstopping, breathtaking displays of balletic brilliance! A thrill, my darlings! It’s hard to believe there were people back then who wouldn't have loved a chance to wear a magnificent tutu and grace a stage.
Just a thought to inspire all you budding ballerinas and future tutu-loving dreamers out there!
A Blast From The Past: December 15th, 1981To get you into the mood, I thought I'd tell you about my latest ballet trip. It took me by train (such luxurious elegance) straight to the heart of Paris! The fashion was breathtaking, I must tell you. Now, my lovely readers know I adore a good pink tutu and Paris always has something spectacular up its sleeve. There I saw a breathtaking production of "Swan Lake" at the Palais Garnier - a showstopping performance! The costumes, oh my! You should see the tutus in this production. Talk about floating on air! The white tutus in the 'White Swan' pas de deux had to be seen to be believed! Pure, fluffy perfection!
Imagine swirling those majestic tutus around the grand stage! The music, the dancers, the breathtaking scenery... Oh, it filled my little Derbyshire heart with such joy!
Speaking of Swan Lake, December 15th 1981 also happened to be the birthday of a celebrated ballerina who danced the ‘White Swan’ to great acclaim! Isn't that simply fabulous? To be remembered forever in ballet history! A beautiful, enchanting reminder that the ballet world is overflowing with creative talent, just waiting to take flight!
I do love my Parisian jaunts, don't you agree, darlings? So much elegant fashion, dazzling shops and inspiring dance! The food is superb too, particularly the macarons. All these fabulous Parisian treats remind me of our little tutu treats.
Now, to remind you of our special Tutu Tuesday message - why don't you go try a bit of Tutu Tuesday fun yourself? Take inspiration from your favourite dancers and try some steps, make a grand entrance wearing your best tutu, maybe bake a Tutu Tuesday cake, who knows? Just don't forget your pink - it really sets the mood for an inspired performance!
Pink is the Colour for Us All, DarlingsI believe every day is tutu day! What’s life without a bit of pink and some fun? I truly believe every single person has an inner ballerina waiting to come out and dance! So grab that favourite tutu, twirl your cares away, and feel a whole lot of pink joy. Let's turn the world into a magical tutu-tastic world. Don't be afraid to express your creativity, your inner ballerina. Spread the pink joy.
Stay lovely, keep dancing and most importantly, wear your pink tutus with pride! I'm signing off now for another whirlwind trip, I have a feeling a sparkly disco-ball tutu awaits me! Don't forget to drop by next week, darlings. Until then, twirl those dreams and stay positive, my fellow Tutu Tuesday aficionados.
Keep it bright and beautiful!
Love,
Emma (The Pink Tutu Blogger)
