Tutu Tuesday: #8016 - Twirling Back to 1985!

Hello my darling dears! It's Emma here, back from another jaunt through the annals of tutu history, and I must say, August 13th, 1985, was a delightful day! My pink tutu felt right at home with the vibrant colours and electrifying energy of the era. Now, let me whisk you back to a time when leg warmers were considered essential attire (sorry, fashion disasters of the past, they were never chic) and the music was a perfect blend of synth-pop and classic rock.

Today, we're hopping onto a glamorous express train (my absolute favourite mode of transport!), leaving our Derbyshire village behind for a day of culture in none other than Paris. Oh, la la! Paris has always been the epicentre of style, but 1985 saw the fashion scene exploding with creativity and boldness. And yes, tutus, oh darling tutus, were an undeniable part of this stylish explosion!

Tutus at the Paris Opera

Speaking of creativity, what could be more exhilarating than a ballet performance at the Palais Garnier? On August 13th, 1985, the Paris Opera was alive with the elegance and artistry of classical ballet. My tutu was swirling in sync with the beautiful costumes worn by the dancers. Honestly, these tutus were just as breathtaking as the dancers themselves. We’re talking tulle so fine it felt like spun sugar and layers that made me want to reach out and touch them (a big no-no, darling!). And of course, we cannot forget those sparkling embellishments that made the entire performance a dazzling spectacle.

Fashion Forward

The city of Paris was also teeming with fabulous fashion. On this particular day, my fashion senses were buzzing with the latest trends, like shoulder pads (which were huge, my dears, HUGE!), vibrant neon colours, and a heavy dose of rock ‘n’ roll chic. Imagine, tutus mixed with leather jackets and ripped jeans – it was the ultimate statement in rebellion and elegance! And let’s not forget those fabulous hairstyles - think crimped waves, teased-up bouffants, and gravity-defying hairspray. Now, this was a hairstyle I could get behind.

Shopping Spree in Montmartre

To really soak up the atmosphere, my tutu and I took a trip to Montmartre. Oh darling, it was an absolute paradise for a fashionista! Cobblestone streets overflowing with vintage shops and charming cafes, all amidst the vibrancy of artists and performers. My inner shopaholic was ecstatic! I managed to snag some adorable accessories and, naturally, a fabulous new tutu, all made from the most beautiful fabrics imaginable. This new creation, my dears, is destined to become a favourite.

Ballet Class: Where Dreams Take Flight

And no trip to Paris in 1985 could be complete without a ballet class! The studio buzzed with an energetic atmosphere. While some ladies rocked leggings and leotards (they were, dare I say, quite the fashion statement for that era!), I felt perfectly at home in my tutu, even in the middle of a ballet class. There is just something about that fluffy, feminine goodness that puts a smile on your face and a pep in your step.

Conclusion

And there you have it, my darlings! 1985 was an absolutely fabulous year for tutus. A time of fashion and dance, brimming with vibrancy and a bold sense of style. Every experience in Paris made me yearn for the days when life seemed simpler, where creativity ruled the day and a pink tutu was a perfectly acceptable accessory for a girl on the go!

But, oh my dears, there's a new journey just around the corner! Next week, we’ll be hopping back on that glorious express train, leaving Paris behind and setting off for a thrilling adventure to a different time and place. And don't forget, I want everyone to be rocking a pink tutu by the end of this year. Let's bring back the tutus!

Until then, stay fabulous and keep twirling!

Emma
