#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History - August 12th, 1986 - Post 8068!

Hello my darlings! Welcome back to another edition of #TutuTuesday on www.pink-tutu.com! Itā€™s your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller, Emma, back to whisk you away on another journey through ballet tutu history!

This week, weā€™re travelling back to August 12th, 1986! Buckle up your tutus, darling, this trip will be one for the books, and I'm sure you'll be positively twirling with delight.

Now, I know what you're thinking - ā€œAugust 1986, darling, that's likeā€¦ ancient history! What could possibly be happening with tutus way back then?ā€

Oh my dears, donā€™t you know that in 1986 tutus were still very much the centre of attention! I mean, tutus have always been a timeless beauty. Think of those iconic classical ballet shows, the beautiful ballerinas floating around the stage like graceful fairies! You wouldnā€™t find a single dancer stepping on stage without one, no matter if theyā€™re at the Royal Opera House in London, or La Scala in Milan, and believe me, tutus had quite the moment on both those stages back then.

Now, in 1986, what would I have been wearing on this day?

Oh, letā€™s be real - I'd be sporting the biggest, most beautiful pink tutu you could imagine! We're talking layers of fluffy tulle, just like a fluffy pink cloud, darling! It'd be a masterpiece of colour, perfect for catching all the envious glances. Now Iā€™d be pairing this with some sweet pink shoes, and perhaps a chic, sparkly pink top that'd perfectly complement the ballerina pink tutu! A dash of pearl necklace and some cute, dainty earrings to top it all off, and voila - Tutu Perfection!

Remember, darling, in those days, the tutu was not just an item of clothing, but an emblem of elegance and grace. It was a symbol of something so captivating and romantic, just like myself, darling!

Of course, back in August of 1986, a ballet fan like myself wouldnā€™t have been found without a calendar full of theatre show bookings. On this particular Tuesday, I'd have been glued to my seat in the plush, velvet seats of a London theatre, mesmerised by the beauty and the movement of a fantastic ballet performance. You see, nothing is as romantic as spending a rainy Tuesday night lost in the ethereal magic of a well-choreographed dance.

My favourite shows during the 80ā€™s? Well, I absolutely adored "The Sleeping Beauty"! It had everything a good ballet needs; the grand romance of the story, those stunning costume designs, and, oh my gosh, those amazing tutu designs, darling. A symphony of feathers and flowers with all the pastel shades and frillsā€¦ divine! I remember watching it and just getting completely swept away. And let's not forget the gorgeous, dreamy music that just pulls you in. That, combined with the gorgeous ballet moves of the talented dancers, the incredible, beautifully crafted tutusā€¦ Pure magic!

Speaking of magic, on August 12th, 1986, it was the Royal Opera House, in Covent Garden, London that was hosting this ballet. I simply had to be there to enjoy the most fabulous tutu extravaganza, even if it meant sacrificing a much needed trip to the local antique shops to find some vintage dancing shoes (a must for every aspiring ballerina in Derbyshire, of course!).

On my journey, though, I would absolutely not have passed up the chance to enjoy a bit of tea and crumpets in my usual, elegant attire, at a delightful English tea shop, as I took in the beautiful English countryside whilst travelling on a beautiful red train, my favourite way to journey, in an effort to add some romantic elegance to the trip.

What an incredible trip it would have been, darling! Seeing the world, finding inspiration and a touch of that old world romance wherever I travel, all the while discovering new ways to integrate my personal pink tutu magic into everyday life!

And now for the magic ingredient! Today I've found something extra special for all of you darling Tutu lovers to enjoy!

Did you know that, a special pink tutu dress, designed to be the perfect dance partner for every occasion? Yes! An absolute symphony of femininity, adorned with frills, sequins, and the perfect blend of vibrant and subtle pink, ready to enchant anyone who gazes upon its loveliness. Just as the ballerinaā€™s tutus once enchanted the stages of 1986!

That, my dearest tutufarians, is my #TutuTuesday for you! If you are ever in a tutu-loving, dreamy sort of mood, I suggest taking a peek into the beauty and magic of the past, as I have done today. The best part about the past, though, is its connection to the future - all of our most magical fashion moments, our dance-inspired outfits, and all those gorgeous pieces of beautiful, flowing, tulle, they're still influencing how we style ourselves in 2023 and beyond.

Now I shall depart my time travelling tutu journey with you to go on my next adventure, as I always sayā€¦ "Keep twirling! Always remember the magic of ballet, darling." Until next Tuesday, when I'll be bringing another sprinkle of tutu magic from the past to brighten your day! And as always, my darlings, wear a pink tutu! The world will thank you for it.

Love,

Emma šŸ’•
