#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History - 8232

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back again for another whirlwind adventure into the captivating world of tutus!

This week, my trusty time machine has whisked me back to October 3rd, 1989. A time of shoulder pads, leg warmers, and gasp even a sprinkle of neon. But through all those trends, a classic always shines - the tutu. And oh, my dears, 1989 was a spectacular year for the ballet tutu!

Now, let's start our journey where else? The hallowed halls of the Royal Opera House in London. This iconic venue is just as I left it, resplendent with elegant charm. I am, naturally, all gussied up in my favourite pink tutu, my bright pink lipstick, and sparkling diamond-like earrings. Feeling ever so fabulous, I'm just ready for a glamorous night of ballet. Tonight, "La Bayadère" is taking centre stage - and let me tell you, darling, this show is going to be stunning.

It was such an enchanting performance. Those ballerinas in their stunning layered, fluffy tutus took my breath away. They glided across the stage with grace and agility, their tutus billowing out like ethereal clouds. You know, it's all about finding the perfect tutu, the one that makes you feel like a true princess. Speaking of princesses, we saw Princess Michael of Kent grace the opening night! That lady sure knows how to make an entrance.

Speaking of dazzling performances, did you know Margot Fonteyn, the undisputed queen of the tutu, passed away just two years before? I'm sure the world of dance misses her tremendously.

My time in London wouldn't be complete without a little retail therapy. The streets were buzzing with the vibrant autumn colours. I found the most delightful pink tutu, with a touch of shimmering sequins. Honestly, I felt like a ballerina straight out of a fairytale! It will look absolutely smashing at the Derbyshire Theatre next week for "Swan Lake", don't you think?

Now, as I step back into my time machine, I can't help but be in awe of the tutus from 1989. They truly embodied the spirit of the era, mixing classic elegance with a playful touch. This truly was a wonderful journey!

Join me next Tuesday for another adventure into the captivating world of the tutu, where we'll uncover even more fascinating stories! And, of course, don't forget to share your tutu memories in the comments below!

Until then, wear pink, twirl freely, and let your tutu be your wings.

Love, Emma
