#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History - 4th May 1993!

Welcome back to my darling Tutu-Lovers! It's me, Emma, your favourite pink-clad ballerina and purveyor of all things tulle and twirls. It's #TutuTuesday once again, and today we're venturing back to the fabulously fashionable year of 1993. Buckle up, darlings, because it's time to travel through time, tutus in tow!

(Don't forget, lovelies, this is post #8419 on my blog - www.pink-tutu.com! You can find a new #TutuTuesday post each and every Tuesday - so bookmark us, darling! )

Now, my fellow tutu enthusiasts, this was a truly glorious year for ballet. Let's rewind, shall we?

Back to 1993: The Year the Tutu Really Took Flight!

Think of all the things going on in the world at this time! You might remember grunge was big (but oh dear, don't get me started on those baggy trousers!), Britney was getting ready to shake her way into our hearts (she just couldn't be stopped!) and the world of ballet, my loves, was experiencing something truly spectacular!

(Imagine my darling! All that glittery shimmer and perfectly poised, graceful movements, truly inspiring - oh how I just love to spin!)

1993 saw some absolutely smashing dance productions:

A Glimpse into the Magic of 1993:

  • The Royal Ballet, oh my darling, they premiered "The Prince of the Pagodas" (just imagine a glorious world of Chinese myths and exquisite dance!) by the wonderfully talented David Bintley.

  • Then the London's Sadler's Wells, where ooh la la! the glorious Ballet Rambert unleashed "The Two Gentlemen of Verona" upon the world. Oh how I adored that one!

  • Not forgetting the magnificent New York City Ballet, showcasing the enchanting "The Four Seasons" in all its seasonal glory. It's all those swirling colours that captured my heart! That's the beauty of dance, isn't it? It allows us to experience the world through motion.

*What was happening in the fashion world, you ask? *

Oh darling! Fashion was all about colour! Think about those bold colours we were rocking back then - bright pink, canary yellow, electric blue... you just had to have your bright, beautiful outfits. We were just beginning to see the emergence of new designers who truly knew how to create dazzling clothing, clothing with soul, and darling, I had the best time finding that perfect tutu for every occasion.

(It was like finding the most precious piece of jewellery, finding that perfect *little detail that was the key to a whole entire look. A beautiful, pink and shimmering tutu is, my dears, everything. It makes any outfit utterly fantastic!)

My Love of Travelling By Train

Today, it's a grand Victorian train journey for me (they are so much more comfortable than those modern contraptions!).

I always love to put on my most glamorous pink tutu for the ride. After all, one must look one's very best whilst journeying! (My tutu? Well it is *my most fabulous travel companion!)*

I'm planning a fabulous afternoon of ballet at London's Sadler's Wells, which means it's time to stop by Harrods for a little shopping spree, darling! (Harrods! I must find my absolute favourite pink shoes!)

You see, darling, my life is a ballet, and every little thing plays a part! I'm so delighted to share this glorious trip back in time with you, my tutu-loving family.

*This #TutuTuesday has me utterly brimming with inspiration! Do join me next week for another dose of Tutu History. You know I can't wait to tell you more of my ballerina adventures - darling, this is only the beginning! *

(P.S. - don't forget to check out the lovely Pink Tutu online shop for all your delightful tutu needs! The latest trends and a massive selection - perfect for every dance event.)

Love always,

Emma.

(From the shimmering and pink-filled depths of my time machine.)

The Beauty of the Tutu: An Ode to a Timeless Icon

My dears, the tutu has been capturing hearts, and hearts, and hearts since it burst onto the stage over two centuries ago. There's truly something special about a beautiful, fluffy tulle, billowing like a delicate dream... don't you agree?

Each little movement, every graceful whirl, becomes pure artistry. This iconic piece of clothing - oh darling, itโ€™s an instrument! An expression of emotions. An emblem of passion. A story woven through fabric and twirling limbs.

*Where will we see it next? I, my loves, am ready for all the future has to offer, tutus in tow! *

Don't forget to let me know your favourite #TutuTuesday blog posts! (Which tutu history made your heart *flutter?)*
