#TutuTuesday: A Whirl Through Time! - Post #8888

Bonjour, my darling dancers! 🩰

It's another glorious Tuesday, which means it's time for a Tutu Tuesday trip back in time, this week we're skipping through the month of April 2002, the time of… drumroll pleasethe Ballet Russes exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London! Can you believe it? Just a little over 20 years ago and it was all about those amazing, revolutionary Russian dancers, with their captivating movements and daring costumes! I swear, every time I travel back in time and catch a performance of the Ballet Russes, I'm mesmerized. Those daring silhouettes, the colourful costumes, it all feels so alive!

Speaking of captivating costumes, darling, have you ever seen a ballet tutu from the early 20th century? I'm talking about those frothy, feather-light creations! Just like the early tutus were designed to be more airy and flowy, so are my dresses today! We've definitely come a long way, haven't we? We went from these exquisite, simple garments to all the different kinds of tutus we know and love today - romantic, pancake, tutu de pointe - oh my! 💖

Imagine what it would have been like to see a ballerina on stage, gliding and spinning, in one of these beauties! Back then, it was all about the delicate silhouette and a feeling of weightlessness. And guess what? I reckon these elegant early tutus influenced the styles that came later, making those famous iconic tutus we know today, swoon. They inspired me too, so much so, I even bought an early-style vintage pink tutu that is so utterly exquisite, darling!

While I love me a good vintage piece, today, I'm also completely captivated by the modern interpretations of the ballet tutu! Every dancer’s movements are accented perfectly, showing off their graceful movements and beautiful technique! They take all the classic elements - the light fabric, the flowy lines, and the intricate details - and add a little contemporary twist! And you know me, I always love a little contemporary twist. 😉

My favorite part of being a time-traveling tutu enthusiast is experiencing those big ballet milestones, like the opening of the Ballet Russes exhibit. Those incredible dancers changed the way people looked at dance - and even inspired some pretty innovative costume designs!

*What about the ballet world in April 2002? Well, it was pretty much all about *Giselle, Swan Lake, Romeo & Juliet, The Nutcracker - oh my! - all those beloved classics! * But if you know anything about me, you'll know that *Giselle will always hold a special place in my heart - all those flowing tutus, it's just heaven. 🤩 *There were also a few really interesting new creations and contemporary ballets around as well - and what can I say, I've seen some really phenomenal things, and those have inspired my travels *and my fashion sense - so naturally, I had to share with you! You never know, one of these performances might inspire you to whip up a fabulous new tutu. 😉 **

Now, darling, speaking of traveling and tutus - I had to jump on the train to get to London! Oh, my love for train travel knows no bounds. Just picturing that magical carriage, those scenic views, it's all so captivating, isn't it? Makes me think of the classic The Sleeping Beauty with the gorgeous carriages and elegant characters - it really takes you on a fairytale journey, just like my time-traveling exploits! And of course, I had to dress the part, pink tutu included, because what's more perfect than wearing your most beautiful ensemble when you're heading out for an adventure? 🥰

Just imagine, everyone wearing a pink tutu! Now wouldn’t that be spectacular! Every time I go on an adventure, I like to inspire everyone around me. To try new things, to embrace creativity, and to just have a little more sparkle in their day! A pink tutu can definitely help you achieve that - and who knows, maybe one day, the entire world will join me in my pink tutu crusade, eh?! 💗💖

That’s all for this week, darling! But stay tuned for next Tuesday, when I'll be whipping out my diary for another time travel jaunt to share with you, and to remind you, my loves, there's never a wrong time to add some twirls and twirls into your week! Until then, go forth and dance, and always remember, there’s always a reason to slip on a fabulous pink tutu! ✨

Your always-fashionably-pink Emma 🩰💖✨
