Tutu Tuesday #8894: A Trip Through Time to 2002! 🩰✨

Hey loves! It’s your girl, Emma, back with another trip down #TutuTuesday lane. Today we’re hopping in my trusty time machine, fueled by nothing but pink tulle and the promise of a good pointe shoe, and jetting off to a very specific day in the past – 11th June, 2002!

Can you imagine? The world was just starting to catch onto the genius of the iPod, Friends was on its last season, and I'm guessing tutus were absolutely killing it. I can picture myself at the ballet, completely captivated by the swirling tulle and beautiful, elegant movements.

Speaking of ballet, there's a pretty epic show on tonight, The Royal Ballet's “Swan Lake,” in London! That’s the place to be this Tuesday night – surrounded by other tutu-loving souls and soaking in the majesty of classical ballet. And guess who’s going? This pink-tutu clad blogger! 💃

Now, back to 2002. To properly get into the spirit of the times, I’ve spent the past few days researching the fashions and happenings of the year, and I've got to say – it's so interesting how trends evolve! *2002 was a year of vibrant colors, low-rise jeans, and, of course, the legendary (and very controversial) crop top. *Who knew we'd be sporting midriffs and seeing all kinds of bold hues on the fashion scene, almost twenty years ago? I mean, who could say no to a gorgeous fuchsia blouse or a sky blue pair of trousers, right?

Of course, tutus always manage to find a way to steal the show – no matter the decade. And the year 2002 was no different! Imagine the possibilities: A hot pink tutu with a bold graphic crop top and a sleek pair of ankle boots – I'm getting butterflies just thinking about it! 😍

I’ve got to admit, travelling back to 2002 has left me with an itch for some vintage shopping. I'm on the hunt for some early 2000s gems. Just imagine finding that perfect oversized, jewel-toned top that I can pair with a vibrant, shimmering tulle tutu – now that's a look! And hey, don’t even get me started on those adorable little chain bags that everyone was carrying! Those are absolutely essential! 👜

The past few weeks have been so hectic with my ballet schedule. Between teaching classes at the Derbyshire Ballet Academy, attending some fabulous workshops (can you even believe they introduced a new “street ballet” style?), and squeezing in all the practice, my life feels like a graceful, but incredibly busy, pirouette.

Speaking of pirouettes, my latest ballet shoes are just chefs kiss! I managed to find these exquisite pointe shoes in the most gorgeous soft blush pink hue. Let's be real, my love affair with the color pink is undeniable! And it’s not just ballet, pink makes every look feel fabulous – even a day trip by train. (It’s not a journey if it isn’t punctuated by the romantic clicking of wheels on track, darling!) 🚄

I can't wait to see all of your tutu looks this week. I’ve already spied some spectacular entries on my social media! Be sure to post your outfit pics and tag me - I absolutely love seeing all the different ways you love to embrace tutus. You’ve got it, my loves! Now go on, wear those tutus with pride!

Remember, this blog is just a taste of what 2002 was like! Stay tuned for next week's #TutuTuesday adventure, where we're going to journey back to the era of big hair, leg warmers, and, you guessed it, tutus! 💕

With love and sparkles,

Emma 🩰✨
