#TutuTuesday: A Whirlwind Through Time! 🩰

Hello lovelies! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-wearing time-travelling blogger, Emma, back with another blast from the past! Today, I've been whisked back to 2004, and trust me, the style scene was a glorious hotchpotch! But before we dive into the fashion fabulosity, I want to chat about this magical date, 18th May 2004. Remember the drama of the Eurovision Song Contest? The unforgettable "Hold Me Now" by Johnny Logan from Ireland – sheer brilliance! 😉 Plus, for all you music lovers, this was also the release date of Get Back, the amazing documentary chronicling the Beatles. Honestly, there's no better time to pop on your favourite tutu and let your inner dancer shine!

Speaking of dance, darling readers, the heart of my journey always circles back to those iconic tutus! This week, let’s chat about 2004’s tutu trends! Remember that amazing '00s style that blended a dash of vintage glamour with a vibrant pop twist?

Oh my, did you ever get into those puffy, tiered tutus that danced with every twirl? Honestly, they were a whimsical dream come true! Picture this: A cloud-like tulle creation with multiple layers and that signature ruffled edge, perfect for that ballerina princess look. The colour palette for 2004? Forget plain white, this was the era of neon and playful pastels! A shimmering pink tutu, oh darling, what a masterpiece. Think bubblegum pink, shimmering baby blue, vibrant lime green, it was truly the golden age for colour! And the best bit? You could find these dazzling tutus just about everywhere: dance shops, vintage boutiques, even department stores!

However, my loves, while 2004 celebrated those super-voluminous tutus, they were not the only stars. This was a time when modern and experimental tutus took centre stage! They were lighter, flowy, and oh-so-graceful. Think minimalist lines and soft, sheer fabrics – just divine for those ethereal ballet performances.

My favourite thing? Seeing how these modern tutus, both romantic and bold, were used in street-style! Back then, fashionistas weren’t afraid to embrace their inner ballerina. You would spot those fantastic tulle skirts with their dramatic movement, perfectly styled with a band t-shirt, denim jacket, and combat boots. The contrast between the soft tutu and those edgier elements was a glorious clash that I adore!

Of course, no trip to 2004 would be complete without revisiting the enchanting realm of theatre. It was a year filled with magic, and no show embodied that spirit better than "The Phantom of the Opera" on stage at Her Majesty's Theatre, in London. Every time I travel back to those golden days of musical theatre, the exquisite costume designs from the production transport me straight to the depths of that enchanting opera house!

And to conclude my little 2004 adventure, I have to say, the most delightful element of my trip, apart from the sheer brilliance of those tutus, was hopping onto the train for a spin around London! I was in my element: a stunning pink tutu, a vintage lace beret, a cheeky charm bracelet with my lucky dancing shoe pendant, all against a backdrop of Victorian-era carriages and steaming locomotives! It was pure enchantment, darling, pure enchantment!

Now, off you pop to dance the night away in your favourite tutu, whether it's the fluffy, vintage-style creation, the chic, modern ballerina dream, or even a little pink number you find tucked away in your wardrobe!

And, don't forget to share your fabulous tutued-out selfies with me, and remember, there’s always room for a little bit of pink magic in every life! 😉

See you all next #TutuTuesday, my lovelies!

Love always,

Emma x
