Tutu Tuesday: Ballet Tutu History, 2007-03-27 (Post #9144)
Hello, darling dears! ๐ฉฐ
It's me, Emma, your favourite pink tutu-wearing time traveller, back again for another #TutuTuesday! It's been another whirlwind week, and what better way to end it than with a splash of ballet history and a dose of fabulous tutu talk? ๐
As you all know, my biggest passion in life is ballet (and pink, of course! But that's for another day!) So today, I've whisked myself back to the year 2007-03-27, just to check in on how the world of ballet was shaping up back then! You know me - always looking for inspiration for the next fab tutu design!
Tutu's Tales from the Past
Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon the London Coliseum, where The Royal Ballet was in full swing with their incredible production of "Giselle". My, oh my, the tutus! They were pure elegance - long and flowing, almost like wisps of air catching the stage lights. Those romantic tutus - simply stunning, perfect for expressing the ethereal nature of Giselle, the doomed, heartbroken heroine. You see, even in 2007, they were embracing the timeless beauty of the classic tutu.
But, the fun wasn't limited to the theatre! I hopped aboard a delightful double-decker bus and zipped to the bustling heart of Covent Garden (a fashionista's paradise, as always!) This was the place to be for ballet lovers and shopping enthusiasts! I popped into a delightful little shop called "The Dancing Boutique" and oh my goodness, they had the most amazing tutus! Sparkling, silky, whimsical designs for every kind of dancer.
They even had this adorable pair of tiny, baby-sized tutus, all pink and fluffy - absolutely adorable! I couldn't resist snapping them up for my newest project - a "Tutu-for-Every-Tiny-Dancer" scheme! ๐ฉฐ ๐ You know me, I have dreams to get every single one of you fabulous tutu fans in the world a pink tutu, no matter your age! ๐
A Splash of Inspiration
Speaking of inspiration, let me tell you, 2007 was the year the modern dancer began to truly shine! New dance forms like ballet fusion were bursting onto the scene. They were taking inspiration from a multitude of sources, creating bold and contemporary tutus with interesting shapes and vibrant colours. I love the creativity!
Of course, classic tutu designs remain ever-popular - like the "Russian" or "Imperial tutu, shorter and bouncier with plenty of layers of tulle. Oh, and I must say, my journey took me through the captivating world of pointe shoes!
The world of ballet is filled with such innovation! Just think of all the exciting things they are working on now, in 2023! (Gosh, time really does fly, doesn't it?)
2007 - a Time to Remember!
My adventure in the year 2007 was simply unforgettable! From the graceful movements of the Royal Ballet to the vibrant tutus at "The Dancing Boutique," I absorbed so much inspiration. Seeing all these amazing dancers and tutus just confirms how fantastic and magical the world of ballet is, from its classical roots to its daring, new wave styles!
And don't forget, darling dears, the most important thing about any outfit, ballet or otherwise, is confidence! You wear it with style and swagger! โจ๐
That's all from me for now! Be sure to catch my next post next week, where I'll be delving into another enchanting time-warp - all in the name of those glorious tutus! โจ Don't forget, my beautiful tutu wearers, let's keep the tutu revolution going! We can make the world a more sparkly, glamorous and downright joyful place - one pink tutu at a time! ๐
Until next week, my loves!
