#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: A Whirl Through Time! (Post #9156)
Hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-touting ballerina blogger Emma here, back with another blast from the past on #TutuTuesday!
This week, I've travelled all the way back to June 19th, 2007. Fancy that, a Tuesday too! The date holds some pretty special memories, so naturally, I just had to visit and share my findings with you!
Let's just say, my time machine got a real workout, gliding across time to this enchanting decade. The first thing I noticed, of course, was the fashion! And oh, it was divine. A whole palette of vibrant colours, with a retro edge, that made my tutu-loving heart skip a beat. You can tell the fashion world was already picking up those early whispers of what was to come, darling, and it was certainly something special!
Anyway, back to the heart of the matter - ballet! Oh, it's quite something seeing it unfold through the years. Now, this year was all about the emergence of a stunning new ballet performance that truly had everyone in awe, but more on that in a little bit!
Let's Talk Tutus: Back in 2007, the tutu scene was truly taking off. It was no longer just the de rigueur outfit for the professionals; the general public was starting to embrace it too! Ballet studios were buzzing with more than just graceful pirouettes; there was a sense of freedom, of exploring new creative possibilities.
Honestly, the fashion scene was booming! Shops and online retailers were bursting with all kinds of styles, fabrics and colours - from classic romantic tulle to dazzling sequin-encrusted ones that would make even the most jaded ballerina swoon. They weren’t afraid of embracing some daringly short tutus too! This wasn't just a fashion trend - it was a way of expressing oneself, a way of feeling like a princess without a crown!
And did I tell you about the street-style?! Every other passer-by on the cobblestone streets was flaunting a touch of tutu, a pink one if they were really stylish. They had it with their cute everyday clothes, at fashion events - it was such a beautiful spectacle. You could tell, darling, that the Tutu Revolution was well and truly underway.
But you know me, always keen to bring back those special pieces of history for my readers. Let me tell you about the ballet that stole the show in 2007. It was, without a doubt, The Nutcracker!
I don't know if you know, but this year, the Royal Ballet’s production at Covent Garden - oh darling, those grand halls! - really knocked my socks (and tutus) off. This enchanting tale is a Christmas tradition for so many, and they pulled out all the stops with the production, making it even more magical and special!
The staging, darling! Truly breathtaking! It’s no surprise they were giving Swan Lake a run for its money that year. The Nutcracker really captured the imagination and wonder of everyone - a true masterpiece, I must say!
Now, on a more personal note… What do I wear on such a fashionable day, you ask? Why, my gorgeous pink tutu, of course! I paired it with a cute cream cardigan and some vintage Mary Janes for a little bit of 2007 flair, wouldn’t you say? You just know I had to grab a few of those gorgeous tulle pieces while I was in the vintage shops, as I can already tell these will become a hit with all you tutu enthusiasts. You'll see those on my shop in a couple of weeks, darlings, so keep an eye out!
So that's all from me, darlings! Keep those twirls going and remember, always wear your tutu with pride! See you next Tuesday!
With all my love,
Emma
