#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: Post #9203 (13th May 2008)
Hiya lovelies! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing time traveler, Emma, back again with another delve into the wonderful history of the tutu!
I'm currently writing to you from a gloriously sunny Parisian cafรฉ, with a heavenly almond croissant and a latte by my side. The city is abuzz with life and colour, just like my favourite garment โ the tutu!
But let's get back to the story, shall we?
Today, I want to talk about something special. A day that holds significance for every true ballerina and tutu enthusiast โ the 13th of May, 2008. Why is it so important, you ask? Because, darling, on this day, we celebrated the opening of the newly renovated Palais Garnier, the iconic Paris Opera House! The grand, shimmering opera house, that's as majestic as a ballerina en pointe, has hosted some of the world's most celebrated performances.
Think about it: for over a century, this hallowed space has been the stage for the birth of timeless ballets and iconic performances. From legendary ballerinas to the current generation of stars, the Palais Garnier is the place where dreams take flight. And trust me, on that glorious May day in 2008, everyone who stepped inside felt that magical energy!
The grand reopening of the Palais Garnier was more than just a celebration; it was a symbol of enduring artistry, a tribute to the enduring spirit of ballet. This majestic theatre is not only an architectural wonder, but a testament to the timeless magic of dance and, of course, the stunning beauty of a perfectly fitted tutu!
Speaking of tutus, I'm absolutely in love with the designs coming out this season. There's a certain vintage flair that is perfectly capturing the spirit of Parisian elegance.
And if youโre a true tutu-lover like me, you need to make a beeline to the Palais Garnier this year. Not only will you be treated to an unparalleled performance, but you'll also get to marvel at the stunning architectural detail of the theatre itself. If you need inspiration for your own tutu collection, this is the place to be. I can guarantee you'll be bursting with inspiration after taking in all those exquisite costumes.
As always, darlings, remember: every day is a good day to celebrate the majesty of the tutu! Wear it with confidence, embrace the graceful flair, and let the world know your love for this truly iconic garment.
But before you rush out to twirl in your pink tutu, here's a little something special from my time travelling wardrobe โ a beautiful, antique lace-trimmed tulle tutu, from the Victorian Era! Can you imagine being a ballerina in that period? Wearing delicate fabrics, moving with such grace and charm โ a true picture of romance! I love finding treasures like this from different time periods, giving me a glimpse into the history of ballet and its influence on fashion through the ages.
And don't forget, my dear tutulovers, you can find more glimpses into the past and all my current finds, and of course my weekly #TutuTuesday blogs, at www.pink-tutu.com.
Keep those tutus twirling,
Emma xo
