#TutuTuesday: A Twirl Through Time - Ballet Tutu History (Post #9274)

Hello darlings! Itā€™s Emma here, your resident tutu enthusiast, back with another whirl through the history of balletā€™s most magnificent accessory: the tutu!

Today's journey is taking us right back to September 22nd, 2009, and trust me, this date was brimming with tutus galore!

Now, before I spill all the exciting tea about ballet history, I just had to pop in a quick update. My little travel bug has bitten again! This weekend Iā€™m taking a luxurious train ride to Paris! I've already found the most gorgeous little vintage shop in the Marais, known for its exquisite silk fabrics and old ballet posters. Can't wait to get my hands on some goodies!

And speaking of exquisite, have you ever been to the Royal Opera House in London? Itā€™s just breathtaking, darling! You know how I feel about tutus, and well, there were SO many last time I went! It was like a tutu wonderland! It's just a hop skip and a jump from Derbyshire and totally worth the day trip if you're feeling a bit glamorous!

But back to 2009! Oh my goodness, where do I even start?

The New York City Ballet was putting on an incredible production of ā€œThe Nutcrackerā€ featuring gorgeous new tutus by designer * *Karinska. Remember her, dears? Those exquisite romantic, fluffy, tulle creations, a ballet legend! It just had to have been breathtaking! I do hope to catch the next performance myself ā€“ who needs a Christmas present when you have ā€œThe Nutcracker,ā€ right?!

Across the pond, the Royal Ballet in London had their ā€œGiselleā€ in rehearsal. Giselle is a classic, darling, with those iconic white, romantic tutus, all floaty and delicate ā€“ so elegant!

Of course, no Tutu Tuesday is complete without a little dose of the Royal Ballet School. You know, that place where dreams are made, all the stars are born! Those students were undoubtedly in a whirlwind of practice for the upcoming shows, probably with new, shiny, bright tutus sparkling for their grand performance ā€“ simply dreamy!

What else happened on September 22nd, 2009, that has tutus in its heart? Well, remember that showstopping documentary about the life and works of Rudolf Nureyev that hit our screens in 2008? Youā€™ve just got to see the scene when heā€™s with Margot Fonteyn! A tutu loverā€™s dream! Just those iconic dance costumes are a lesson in pure, feminine elegance!

So much tulle, so many tutus, it's giving me goosebumps!

Now, darlings, it's your turn to share your Tutu Tales! Tell me what you remember from 2009 ā€“ Did you see any ballerinas twirling in their magical tutus? Perhaps a new ballet shoe design was released that day, Or was it a magical dance show on TV, full of tutus and magic? I'd love to hear your stories in the comments!

Remember to check out my website www.pink-tutu.com and join me next week for more ballet and tutu wonders!

Until then, keep twirling, Emma
