#TutuTuesday: A Whirlwind Tour Through Tutu History (Post #9312)
Hello, darling tutus! It’s your favourite pink-loving, twirling, travel-obsessed ballerina blogger, Emma, back again with another delightful dose of tutu history! Buckle up, my dears, because today we’re going on a grand adventure through time to a date that always makes my heart flutter: June 15th, 2010!
Ah, 2010! Such a splendid year. The world was full of sparkly energy, vibrant colours, and of course, the absolute crème de la crème of tutus. Just imagine: we’re in a world where Black Swan was sweeping across the silver screen, Alice in Wonderland was enchanting everyone with its fantastical beauty, and everyone was obsessed with the Sex and the City 2 fashion – and darling, let’s not forget that oh-so-stylish, chic tutu that Carrie Bradshaw wore in the film!
A Trip Through Time... On a Train, Naturally! Now, you know how much I adore travelling, especially by train! It's so much more stylish and romantic than those stuffy old aeroplanes. And on this trip to 2010, I chose to travel on the beautiful Eurostar! Think of it – a whistle-stop tour through time and space, all while admiring the ever-changing landscapes from the comfort of my plush seat. Oh, and of course, I couldn’t forget my favourite pink tutu for the journey. It perfectly matched the floral print on my vintage suitcase, which just goes to show that a girl never leaves home without her tutu, darling!
Ballet & Beyond: A World of Twirling DelightAs I stepped onto the cobblestones of this vibrant time period, I could already feel the air thrumming with energy. Everyone seemed so… alive. It was thrilling! And where do I find the best ‘thrilling’? At a ballet performance, of course!
Right here, in the heart of 2010 London, where the stage was alive with tutus and the air filled with music. I had to be there to witness a truly dazzling performance by the Royal Ballet! Imagine, darling, a kaleidoscope of colours and stories painted across the stage with each graceful movement. The ballerina's movements were just so elegant, every arabesque, every fouetté a poem of expression. It made me ache to be back on stage myself! Oh, I could watch these magical ballets for hours and hours!
Tutu Trends: 2010 Style and BeyondThe streets of London were buzzing with the chicest tutu trends of the decade. Fashionistas were obsessed with layers, with vibrant colours, and of course, with the perfect tutu! This was the era of Alice in Wonderland style, and tutus played a starring role. Picture layers upon layers of delicate fabrics, tutus adorned with lace, beads and embroidery, and colours like a a painter's palette - bright greens, jewel tones, and yes, pink! A tutu could be anything you dreamed it to be, my dears! It was truly the Golden Age for tutus, darling!
Tutu Style Tips from Emma’s Time Capsule:Here are some of my absolute favourite trends I picked up in 2010:
Layer up, lovelies!: No, we're not talking about the layering of a grand ballet skirt here. We’re talking about layering tutu skirts over everything from jeans and a tee to a dress or a blazer! It's all about that fabulous combination of street style and a touch of balletic magic.
Embrace the unexpected: There's no need to restrict tutus to just evening events, darling! Wear them on a date night, with your friends on a Saturday, or for a day of exploring museums. Let those tutus fly freely and break the boundaries!
Accessorise to perfection: Add that extra touch to your tutu with gorgeous headbands, statement necklaces, bold bags and colourful shoes! Let your inner fashionista shine through!
Pink, Pink, Pink!: It’s no surprise I’m a huge fan of this magical colour, darling! It's all about embracing the playful and vibrant energy of a tutu with pink as the ultimate colour of your dreams. Don’t be afraid to make a statement with a full-on pink tutu look. After all, the only rule in tutus, as far as I’m concerned, is to be bold.
Wear them with pride!: You’ve got the most gorgeous outfit. You look fantastic. Now, darling, let’s show off our tutus! Confidence is your best accessory. Be sure to strut, sashay and twirl with that signature pink tutu confidence!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, darlings, I must get back to writing and making sure everyone knows the incredible history of this magical, twirling fashion statement. Because when you look at a tutu, it’s not just a garment. It’s a celebration of artistry, dreams, and, yes, the purest expression of joy. The next time you slip on a tutu, think of its amazing journey through history and its ability to make us feel so unbelievably fabulous!
So go on, wear your pink tutus with pride. Twirl with grace, express yourself with every dance, and join me in spreading the tutu love across the globe! Remember, darling, the world needs a bit more sparkle.
See you next Tuesday for another #TutuTuesday adventure, darlings!
