#TutuTuesday: A Whirl Through Time - Ballet Tutu History! (Post #9338)

Greetings, darling tutufarians! 🩰

It’s me, your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveler, Emma, back again with another instalment of your beloved #TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History series! This week we're zipping through time, all the way back to 14th December 2010. Grab a pink-tinged cuppa and settle in for a fabulously fabulous time travel adventure, lovelies!

First off, a confession – you simply cannot imagine the outfit I've procured for this little jaunt! We're talking a veritable explosion of pink. Think cascading tiers of the most glorious cerise silk imaginable, accented with feather boas that would make a flamingo jealous! Oh, and let's not forget the perfectly coordinated hot pink patent leather pumps - so chic!

This week's destination: Paris! The City of Lights, and (if you haven't figured it out already) a major ballet hub. There's a reason, you know, why "Parisian Chic" is synonymous with timeless elegance. And what could be more elegant than a ballet tutu? Just sayin'.

So, darling friends, let's unpack some tutu trivia from December 2010. The French dance scene is still positively buzzing. Remember, back then, everyone was all about "The Black Swan" craze! The ballet world was simply obsessed with Natalie Portman in her breathtaking black swan costume. I have to admit, it was a rather fetching outfit! A black, tulle swan tutu, with little black feather detail... swoon!

Of course, I had to see it myself! I'm talking a whirlwind trip to Paris! Train journeys through the countryside, darling. Nothing beats gazing at the fleeting green landscape while dreaming about ballet tutus.

On this particular 14th of December 2010, we were graced with the exquisite ballet "Cinderella". Now, I can't exactly disclose which company I saw, you see, I must remain a secret time traveler. But rest assured, it was a truly magnificent rendition. I was completely blown away by the ethereal choreography, the beautiful music... and those gorgeous sparkly, shimmering, tutus! Imagine, tutus so intricate they practically radiated with magic! I was positively swept away by it all! And then there were the amazing sets... Truly the most spectacular production I'd ever seen.

But back to 14th December, my dearest! The excitement in Paris was tangible. Not just at the ballet but the fashion too! Remember when Parisian streets were dominated by high-waisted, leather shorts and sparkly tights? Those high heeled boots and oversized hats? Truly a magical era!

You know what's extra fab, darling? All those iconic fashion trends from 2010? They're back! How fun, eh? That's why vintage fashion is SO exciting!

Now, imagine this! We’re back in Derbyshire, the air crisp, the leaves turning auburn and ochre. I'm perched on a cozy train journey, watching the world drift by, and I see a young woman in a sparkling, black tutu. My heart skips a beat. It’s not every day you see a ballet tutu in my home town, and you'd be surprised, darling! It's just the most delightful touch of magic needed to brighten the day!

It makes me feel a certain way, darling! You see, it all boils down to spreading joy and enchantment, don’t you agree? A dash of colour, a little sprinkle of creativity, and, of course, the magnificent power of a pink tutu. And maybe a bit of feather boas and patent leather. Oh, the joy!

Don’t forget, dearies, join me again next #TutuTuesday, where we’ll journey back to another fantastic moment in tutu history!

Love, glitter, and tutus, Emma 💕🩰✨
