#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History - Post Number 9465: 2013-05-21
Hello darlings! It’s Tuesday, and you know what that means! It's #TutuTuesday time on pink-tutu.com, and I’m here to whisk you back in time (well, virtually, of course) on a grand adventure to uncover the glorious history of the ballet tutu!
You see, my love for the tutu knows no bounds, and my passion for its journey through history is absolutely burning! Today we’re skipping through the calendar to 2013 – just a mere blink of an eye ago, really. That's right, a full decade already!
Oh, how the time flies when you're living life to the fullest in your pink tutu. It truly is the most fabulous invention. And with all of the exciting and wonderful tutu evolutions taking place, you can be sure we are going to have lots to chat about!
First, let’s raise our champagne flutes to the excitement bubbling over at the Royal Opera House, because that’s where you'd find me in May 2013, darling! I had to go for Swan Lake - it’s the ultimate in tutus and ballet. You can never have enough Swan Lake in your life! Imagine, me and my gorgeous pink tutu watching the delicate swans with their impossibly long tutus glide across the stage – pure magic, I tell you!
Speaking of the magic of the theatre, I can still vividly remember all the magnificent colours. So much fabulousness! Every last detail of their magnificent tutus shone brightly in the theatre’s shimmering spotlight. And let me tell you, the detail in those tutus is astounding! Imagine delicate layers of tulle carefully arranged to create a beautiful swirl. It is like wearing a cloud! Every one of these magical tutus must have been crafted with so much care and love, and their impact on stage is breathtaking.
Remember my trip to Paris? It was heavenly, with so many fantastic tutus to be admired. I loved the tutus in the ballets there. I mean, what's not to love?! They were stunning.
Paris just had this aura about it, you see! From strolling the boulevards to admiring the charming little cafes – and even just observing the style of the people walking by – everything oozed with sophistication. There was something utterly Parisian about seeing the ballet dancers in their glamorous, flowing tutus. It was an amazing, chic and incredibly inspiring experience.
Fashion has always had such an important impact on the evolution of the tutu, I just had to hop on a train and travel to the city of light and love! The whole fashion experience left me so inspired!
Of course, tutus in ballet haven't just been about traditional, swirling grandeur! Ballet Street, for example, is breaking the boundaries and using the tutu as an artform that’s not only beautiful, but tells a story. Think bold colours, incredible shapes, and a total artistic freedom – that’s Ballet Street! And I loved seeing a younger generation reinterpreting the tutu!
And just think of the magnificent colour of pink! Just recently I came across a dazzling pink tutu worn in a production of Swan Lake! I was speechless. How could something so lovely even exist?! Imagine all of those tutus with that fantastic, rich pink hue; you could almost feel it from the front stalls of the theatre. Such delicate swirls, a true delight for the eyes!
I had a little fashion moment in the shops, you see! I always pick up new tutus and ballet shoes to keep my own ballet wardrobe updated! It really is a wonderful form of artistic expression, isn’t it? You really have to see those tutus in person!
My fashion shopping had an unusual twist this week because I visited the amazing world of London Fashion Week. And let me tell you – those catwalk shows and the designer's visions! Such amazing talent! I was so impressed by the new fashion looks! Those clothes really inspire me to continue using colour and a joy for life in my tutus!
This week, my Tutu Tip is all about bringing colour into your life - just as I've done with pink tutus! Whether it's adding a pop of colour to your outfits, or picking up a bold new ballet shoe – dare to be colourful, ladies! It’s such an expression of happiness and a brilliant way to bring a little magic into your everyday life.
That's all from me this week, my lovely tutu-lovers! Join me again next Tuesday as I continue my adventures into the wonderful world of ballet and tutus. You never know where my time travelling pink tutu will take me next! Remember, we’re always trying to spread the joy and make the world a more beautiful, twirling, fabulous place. You know what to do: pink tutu on, darling! It’s time to make some memories. And let’s go and make the world a little bit brighter, a little bit more colourful. After all, what's life without a little bit of sparkle!
Until next week… I'll be twirling away!
