#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: 9479

Helloooo darlings! It's Tuesday, and that means it's time for another #TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History post. I'm Emma, your tutu-loving, pink-obsessed, time-travelling ballerina blogger, here to share my love of the most fabulous fashion item ever created: the ballet tutu. Today's date is the 27th August, 2013, and as you all know, I simply cannot resist a good fashion adventure!

Today, we're journeying to the heart of the tutu world: Paris, France! This city, synonymous with elegance and chic, is buzzing with fashion, culture and of course, ballets! I've just hopped off a train from Derby – that's my neck of the woods in good ol' England – and I'm ready for a grand Parisian adventure. You see, it's this date that my blog's about – a ballet world event that makes me, and hopefully you, do a pirouette of excitement!

This week, we're diving into the enchanting world of the Opéra National de Paris. Yes, you heard right - it’s the grandest of the grand ballet theatres, the pinnacle of ballerinas' dreams, a real tutu paradise! And do you know what? Today marks the very first performance of *Laurent Hilaire's "Romeo and Juliet." * You might not know this, but he’s not only a former étoile, or star, but a famous ballet master who's been on this hallowed stage for years.

Now, you'd think seeing a renowned Parisian performance would be enough to satisfy any ballet fanatic, wouldn’t you? Well, this is 2013 and, as I'm sure you know, I’m a woman who loves not only the elegance of the ballet itself, but also the fashion that goes with it.

Hold onto your tutus ladies, because I have a secret: Laurent Hilaire isn't just a renowned choreographer and dancer - he's also known for revolutionizing ballet costume design! Imagine tutus, that already are so stunning, made even more beautiful and glamorous with the added flair of innovative fabrics, dramatic cuts and designs that truly bring the romantic spirit of Romeo and Juliet to life.

I can almost hear the rustling of the finest silks as the ballerinas take to the stage – the swirling tulle reflecting the soft Parisian evening light, creating an unforgettable tableau of romantic drama. Honestly, I'm getting a little misty-eyed just thinking about it!

And what is the most incredible part of this? This very ballet, “Romeo and Juliet," * isn't just another show in Paris; it's *part of a year-long series showcasing contemporary dance. You know how much I love embracing modern influences in a world steeped in tradition, and I believe that's what ballet costumes today are all about!

They've managed to blend traditional elements, the gorgeous flow and artistry of classic tutus, with modern design concepts and fabrics to create something spectacular, something truly magnificent! Now that's the ballet world I adore – embracing evolution whilst keeping the spirit of classical grace. This is ballet for the future!

Speaking of modern, I can’t leave you without some tutu news for those of us who love our tutu-chic fashion outside of the ballet world! I mean, we're all about spreading the love of tutus beyond the theatre stage, right? And if I'm honest, it's something that makes this whole travelling and blogging experience worthwhile!

So, let’s take a spin through some fashion finds! This year, designers are showing off their own takes on the classic ballet look - with bold colours and intricate details.

From the glitzy runway shows to the streets, you can see this trend is everywhere. The best thing is that tutus aren't just for ballerinas! Now we can have fun expressing our inner grace through a modern fashion statement.

There are these fantastic, floaty midi skirts with tulle tiers. They combine that airy feel with practical wear. Honestly, imagine the perfect afternoon outfit, one that would make the most discerning fashionista do a double-take – it’s a simple T-shirt tucked into a voluminous, tiered tutu-like skirt. Just throw on your favorite heels, add some glittery earrings, and I guarantee you’ll turn heads! You’ll be the queen of the dance floor wherever you go!

And let’s not forget those amazing layered tutu tops. The possibilities are truly endless with these beauties. They're great for adding a touch of ethereal charm to any casual outfit, making a statement without trying too hard! I love to wear mine with jeans and a blazer – it’s just a touch of sparkle that turns heads. And then there's the beauty of the classic, fluffy ballerina bun!

Now, I’m sure you’re dying to try this amazing look – so why not give a ballet class a whirl? Nothing’s quite like it to boost your confidence and your love of all things ballet. I truly believe that ballet is something everyone can enjoy, and a class is the perfect place to start. Just look for local classes and then you'll be well on your way to becoming your own personal prima ballerina.

But as always, our love of the tutu knows no limits! It’s about more than just a garment; it’s about the dream of dancing, the spirit of graceful expression, and the joy of expressing your unique beauty, whatever form that takes.

So, darlings, I'm signing off now, leaving you with a twinkle in your eye and a skip in your step. And remember: never stop dancing!
