Tutu Tuesday: Ballet Tutu History - #9480
Hiya everyone! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet where tutus reign supreme! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, Emma, back with another instalment of #TutuTuesday, where we delve into the glorious history of ballet tutus!
Today, my dear readers, we're whisked back to September the 3rd, 2013! The air is crisp, autumn is just around the corner, and London is buzzing with anticipation for the start of the new ballet season. Now, don't think for a moment I'm only interested in London, though. Today's post is dedicated to the world of ballet!
I recently popped over to New York via the ever-reliable train (I can never resist a good journey) and was absolutely thrilled to see how enthusiastic everyone was about tutus there! Of course, there's a certain Parisian je ne sais quoi about ballet tutus, but it's clear that this beautiful piece of attire has captivated audiences all over the globe.
So, what was going on in the world of tutus on this particular September 3rd? Well, for starters, let's take a trip to the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden! A new production of Giselle was in full swing, and imagine my delight when I spotted an adorable group of young dancers sporting their fluffy tutus in the rehearsals!
Remember, the tutus we see in the modern ballet world are the result of years and years of evolution, starting from a simple, ankle-length, skirt worn by men back in the Renaissance. How crazy is that, eh? I can't imagine any man in his right mind choosing to wear a tutu these days - unless of course, he's on stage, and we all know it takes a certain kind of gentleman to pull that off!
Anyway, back to our time-traveling journey! Remember how I told you that 2013 was all about Giselle? Well, it seems it was also a big year for the Swan Lake production! On this day in 2013, Swan Lake was being showcased in San Francisco! And yes, I made a swift train journey across the Atlantic just to witness this breathtaking spectacle of fluffy white tutus fluttering across the stage!
As you can see, even back in 2013, the world was obsessed with ballet and the fabulousness that tutus brought to the performance. I know what you're thinking, "But Emma, it was only September! What other incredible tutu moments happened that year?"
Fear not, dear reader, as you'll be getting a whole post dedicated to 2013 in the coming weeks! But for now, let's continue on our historical odyssey of the tutu, shall we?
So, while I'm hopping around the world, what am I doing for my personal tutu business, you ask? Well, as you all know, a little sartorialist like myself never passes up an opportunity to expand her wardrobe! This week, I made a quick detour to the wonderful shop called "The Tutu Store" in London's Covent Garden. Oh, my goodness! It was like walking into a wonderland of fluffy pink and sparkly tulle!
They've got absolutely everything from dainty little tutus for the budding ballerinas to show-stopping professional tutus for the seasoned dancers! As for myself, I couldn't resist adding a couple of new pink numbers to my ever-growing collection! Itโs not easy carrying all of this tutus through the various time portals but my passion makes it worthwhile!
Speaking of adding to the tutu collection, have you all checked out my newest online shop "Pink Tutu Designs"? I know, I know, it's incredibly self-indulgent, but I wanted a way to showcase my amazing tutu designs! So, whether you're after a shimmering pink, or a vibrant rainbow, you can be certain to find a custom-made tutu in my little online haven! Itโs all about pink tutus in my world!
That brings us to the end of this week's #TutuTuesday, and you know what that means, don't you? Time to whip out your pink tutus, give your loved ones a twirl, and let's spread the joy of tutus to the world! See you all next Tuesday for another exciting dive into ballet tutu history!
Don't forget, my dears, to subscribe to www.pink-tutu.com for all the latest tutu-licious happenings! And until next time, remember - never stop twirling!
With a final pirouette,
