Tutu Tuesday: A Twirl Through Time - #9527

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-wearing time traveler, and it's #TutuTuesday!

This week I'm taking us back to July 29th, 2014, and believe me, my tutu is absolutely positively positively thrilled to be here! You see, darlings, the world of dance, the magical realm of tutus, was buzzing with excitement this day!

Imagine, if you will, a world without our iconic tutus. Sounds a bit bleak, doesn't it? It's almost unfathomable, especially here in the heart of London, where every cobbled street seems to echo with the click-clack of ballet shoes, the rustling of tutus, and the thrilling swoosh of pirouettes.

Now, 2014 was an incredible year for the ballet world! It was the year "The Royal Ballet" at the Royal Opera House presented the incredible "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", which you all absolutely had to see. And "Giselle", a masterpiece in two acts, was back for a dazzling run at The Royal Opera House.

This 29th of July was the premiere of "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland." Oh my word! To this day, it’s considered a triumph of theatrical wonder! The costumes, the staging, the choreography - pure magic! This ballet adaptation, based on Lewis Carroll’s, was an absolute must-see for anyone in London that week, trust me. I snagged the last two seats right before the curtain went up, and I tell you, my heart was soaring like a graceful ballerina on pointe. "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" captivated London audiences with its magical atmosphere, innovative choreography and whimsical beauty, a beautiful example of how ballet and art merge beautifully together, and a must see even if you're a novice to ballet!

Speaking of magic, you simply had to be in London to see the captivating "Giselle", one of the great masterpieces of the romantic ballet. Every turn, every arabesque was sheer poetry in motion, with the delicate and graceful ballerinas gliding across the stage like graceful swans. Honestly, seeing "Giselle" at the Royal Opera House was the perfect example of the enduring power of dance, and why it continues to enchant and inspire. There's no experience in the world like witnessing such breathtaking performances! This was the reason I took the train down from my home in Derbyshire, all for this night at the ballet!

On this 29th of July, 2014, the excitement of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" premiere was in the air, while "Giselle" at The Royal Opera House transported me to a fairytale world. It truly is one of those days that stays with you - full of graceful spins, breathtaking beauty, and the pure joy of the art of ballet.

You know, darlings, it's these types of evenings that remind me of why I'm so devoted to ballet and why I’m absolutely determined to have everyone join my #PinkTutu movement. Let’s turn the world pink, one tutu at a time!

But of course, we’re not just about the theatre! Shopping was absolutely essential for my day in London. It's hard to resist popping into a shop or two when there’s so much beauty around! I spent the morning in Covent Garden Market, *hunting for some delightful new tutus, finding some charming pink feathers for my hair and, I just couldn't resist adding a stunning turquoise beaded belt to my collection. * Covent Garden is a beautiful place for inspiration for tutus and a must for all fashionable ballerina!

That afternoon, I visited Harrodsswoon! What an exquisite wonderland of fabulous frocks, and yes, of course, it was teeming with all things tutu. They had some absolute stunners there - a shimmering pink silk number caught my eye, a masterpiece crafted with thousands of tiny sparkling sequins, truly fit for a princess. And oh my goodness, they had a pair of emerald green point shoes - they were like jewels for my feet. I had to grab them.

Let’s just say, I spent an awfully happy afternoon in that shop, soaking in the splendor and making sure my suitcase was fully stocked for future ballet adventures. * Harrods* is the epitome of luxury and refinement! There’s nothing better than wandering those dazzling floors and being overwhelmed by the sheer variety and opulence on display. If you ever find yourself in London, it is absolutely essential you make time for Harrods! It is an unforgettable experience.

And of course, every visit to London must include a delightful cuppa tea! I settled into a cosy cafe at St Pancras International, *the epitome of vintage glamour. The delicate china, the soothing melodies of a piano in the distance, and of course, the aromatic blend of Earl Grey - oh my goodness! A proper afternoon tea is just perfect! I especially love it here in *St Pancras, as it adds a touch of timelessness, echoing with the history of London’s journey across time.

Well, my dears, I think it's time for me to make tracks for another adventure! You'll find me travelling through time, popping up at all the best ballets, seeking out amazing vintage tutus and enjoying an occasional delightful afternoon tea. Stay tuned for next week’s #TutuTuesday! Remember, never be afraid to twirl your way into life’s big adventures and keep your eyes peeled for those fabulous pink tutus! Pink is power, darlings!

Yours in tulle,

Emma
