#TutuTuesday: A Whirlwind Through Time! 🩰

Hey, Tutu-lovers! It’s Emma here, your pink tutu-clad time-travelling guide to all things twirly and delightful! Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, where we delve into the fascinating world of ballet and the iconic tutu!

This week, for #TutuTuesday (post number 9588, can you believe it?!), we’re heading back to 2015. Oh, what a wonderful time for tutus! It was the year of "The Sound of Music Live!", “Grease Live!”, and "Dancing With The Stars". It seemed like every other night there was some kind of show on TV celebrating dance and that most glorious of all ballet garments: the tutu.

Let me tell you, finding myself in 2015 was just the most fabulous. The world felt brimming with so much colour and creativity, much like a tutu-filled boutique! Everyone was talking about fashion and the arts! It was fantastic for someone like me who's quite partial to a bit of frothy tulle and an occasional 'Dancing with the Stars' style, high-energy contemporary dance performance. Speaking of dance performances, I caught the London production of 'Giselle'. Oh my! Talk about perfection. The choreography, the costumes - breathtaking!

While 'Giselle' made a statement, I was even more thrilled about the way ballet street performances were being embraced. It wasn’t just the Royal Opera House or Sadler’s Wells in London, there was a real buzz for ballet across the globe! Even little village halls and market squares were showcasing the talent and grace of ballet, making this magical art accessible to everyone. There’s nothing I love more than a flash of tulle bursting out on a street corner! It's like a reminder that magic and beauty can be found anywhere.

And, oh, did I mention shopping?! Shopping for the perfect tutu is always an adventure, but in 2015 it felt like a veritable rainbow of tulle, lace, and sequins awaited! From the classic white tutus favoured for Giselle to the glamorous, contemporary 'Moulin Rouge' inspired numbers, every tutu imaginable seemed to be available.

Now, let’s rewind a little. What exactly made 2015 so special for tutus? It’s true that ballet has always had a place in the world, but 2015 was a moment in history where it was experiencing a new kind of popularity. People seemed hungry for stories of romance, grace, and expression – qualities which are at the heart of every twirl.

Maybe it was the sheer power of “The Sound of Music Live,” or the charm of ‘Grease Live’, or the popularity of dance competitions on TV. Whatever the reason, people were enchanted, captivated, and captivated, they wanted more. This excitement sparked a desire for even more stories that expressed movement and passion. It gave me the inspiration to travel back even further and investigate... oh, what are you doing Emma?

Right! Where was I? So, I hopped on a train and travelled down to London (always an excellent city for fashion inspiration, of course!) and spent some time browsing in shops and getting my fashion fix. I managed to find a new tutu! So excited, I had to show it off. But, we must keep moving, it’s time for a new adventure!

Join me next #TutuTuesday for another spin through time! Until then, don't forget, every day can be a Tutu Day! Wear it loud and proud. Don’t be shy to give yourself a little twirl in your own favourite tutu – it’s a guaranteed dose of sunshine and joy!

Love,

Emma x
