Tutu Tuesday #9590: A Journey Through Time - 13th October 2015
Hello lovelies! Emma here, back with another fabulous #TutuTuesday for www.pink-tutu.com! This week we're waltzing our way back to the 13th October, 2015, a truly sensational year for ballet. But before we dive into the glitter and grace, let me just say...pink is definitely my favourite colour. Can you believe I'm even writing this from my pink tutu-clad time travelling contraption? I swear, travelling through time never feels complete without a touch of pink tulle!
Now, let's get down to business. October 13th, 2015, was a date buzzing with excitement in the ballet world. My latest time travel adventure found me whisked off to London, England, a true mecca for ballet lovers. This week was all about the grand opening of the English National Ballet's brand new home - the beautiful, breathtaking London Coliseum. And guess what? I was right there in the heart of the action! The atmosphere was electrifying, filled with a sense of anticipation, much like the feeling when you're about to step onto a stage and twirl your way into the limelight!
The Coliseum's opening was a grand affair! I practically floated through the building, swept up in a whirlwind of swirling silks and elaborate costumes. They opened with a fantastic production of "Giselle," an eternal ballet favourite, complete with all the passionate emotions and graceful choreography that leaves you breathless. There were even these beautiful ballet flats (did I tell you how much I adore shoes?) with glittering bows adorning the feet of the graceful dancers - so lovely, don't you think?
And while we're on the subject of the dazzling, it wouldn't be a proper #TutuTuesday without talking about the iconic tutu! I spotted a dazzling array of them throughout the Coliseum. They twirled, they swayed, they made the entire audience gasp! Those dramatic shapes and fluffy frills - a ballerina's dream!
In the heart of London, surrounded by ballet magic, I also couldn't resist a little detour to a shop I simply couldn't miss, Liberty. It's an enchanting place full of fabrics, trinkets, and most importantly, amazingly creative clothes. Imagine a magical department store, overflowing with colourful scarves, shimmery embellishments, and stunningly detailed hats - pure inspiration! Oh, and it's absolutely bursting with things in my favourite colour! Did I mention I love pink? I spent a whole afternoon wandering the aisles, getting ideas for my next collection of handmade tutus. Every detail, from the embroidery on a satin ribbon to the intricate stitching on a silk bow, truly sets my creative mind ablaze!
Speaking of creative minds, this particular Tuesday also gave birth to a truly wonderful project - Ballet Across Borders. This initiative focused on bringing the power of ballet to people around the globe, celebrating its diversity and captivating stories through online platforms. How beautiful is it to imagine a world united by the grace of dance? And you know what? The website is simply teeming with pink tutus! My heart is bursting with pride!
This journey through 2015 truly proved that the magic of ballet is as vibrant as ever! And remember, lovelies, there is a little ballerina in every one of us, waiting to be unleashed. Whether you're dreaming of waltzing across the stage or simply enjoying a pink-hued tutu, the beauty of ballet always has something magical to offer.
So, before I slip back through time, let's hear your thoughts! What did you think of the opening of the English National Ballet's new home? Did you catch "Giselle?" Do you dream of wearing a pink tutu, maybe even a whole wardrobe of pink tutus?
Let me know in the comments below! Until next Tuesday, keep dancing and embrace the joy of a perfectly pink tutu!
XOXO
