#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: Post 9591

Hello, darlings!

It's Emma here, your very own pink tutu-wearing time travelling ballerina, and welcome back to my #TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History blog!

I've been to the most fantastic place this week, New York City, New York. It was so vibrant, and full of life, and they were so fashion conscious, even their taxis were yellow. Can you imagine how chic yellow taxis are? A friend and I travelled by train there, from my beloved Derbyshire, of course, and you wouldn't believe how many amazing tutus were in the shops. It's hard not to bring one home after that, although it might have something to do with how incredibly fabulous I felt wearing it!

But, let's not get ahead of ourselves. It's #TutuTuesday and that means it's time for another fascinating peek into ballet's beautiful past. Today, we're exploring 20th October 2015, a date buzzing with exciting dance history.

So, what happened on 20th October 2015? You might be surprised, but a huge amount! But I'll break it down for you...

  • A Celebration of Dance in NYC: New York City, of course, was the hub of exciting ballet activity. On this date, a legendary performance was on. You wouldn't believe the exquisite outfits the dancers had! I bought myself a stunning pink tutu very similar, in fact.
  • The Ballet Beyond the Stage: There were street performances popping up everywhere, a real buzz of activity on the streets, especially at the Lincoln Center. And that evening? An incredibly well-reviewed ballet performance.
  • Beyond the Tutu: And let's not forget the wider world of dance. I also spotted amazing tutus in the stores - I always look for beautiful pieces! And of course, many ballet schools in the world were celebrating their own achievements. This really proves ballet's truly global impact!

This date really highlights that ballet was at the forefront of people's minds, from the theatre to the streets and the everyday lives. It was just so inspirational! I found myself thinking that I wish more people could be like that - a celebration of passion, beauty, and self-expression.

Now, about those tutus - the designs were exquisite. You know I love pink tutus, and you could see them everywhere that day, on the stage, on the street, and in shop windows. I actually bought my very first red tutu, a vibrant crimson, from a street vendor. A real gem, you see! And speaking of gems, the jewels, crystals, and sequins used on tutus in the city, especially on the ones I bought, were just exquisite.

It's not always easy being a time-traveling tutu fanatic, darlings, but trust me, there's so much beauty and history to explore, even just with a quick jaunt into the past. If you ever see a pretty tutu out and about, remember that maybe a pink tutu-wearing ballerina like me might have just stepped out of time and left a bit of sparkle behind!

**And, if you haven't joined my lovely ballet community yet, come say hello on www.pink-tutu.com ! You know you want to share your tutu stories. I just love to hear from you. We'll even put together a #TutuTuesday ensemble that we're going to make everyone, especially the boys, want to wear tutus.

Until next week darlings, don't forget - every day is a #TutuTuesday if you've got the passion! I'll be looking out for all those pretty pink tutus out there in the world, and until next time, I'll catch you later! **

*Yours truly, *

*Emma *
