#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: Post 9697! 🩰💖

Hello lovelies! Welcome to another magical #TutuTuesday journey into the fascinating history of our beloved ballet tutus! I'm your guide, Emma, from www.pink-tutu.com, your one-stop shop for all things tutus and sparkle!

This Tuesday, October 31st, we're zipping back to 2017, a time of much sartorial excitement for ballet buffs like me. What was going on in the world of tutus back then? Let’s discover, shall we?!

I've got my vintage-inspired pink tulle confection on, all flouncy and frilly, ready to bring a touch of old-school charm to the present day, even as I hop through the portal to the past. This Tuesday, I’m feeling especially glamorous! You see, it’s Halloween night, but as I love the history of ballet more than a trick-or-treat bowl full of sweets, I’ve ditched the pumpkins and picked up my magic time-travelling ballet shoes!

A Grand Tour Through Tutu Time:

This year, 2017, felt like the year everyone finally realised how awesome the humble tutu truly is! From fashion bloggers to Instagram stars, everyone was rocking their own unique take on the tutu look.

My research tells me there was even a fantastic “Tutu Tuesday” fashion trend going on on social media that week, with bloggers and everyday gals rocking tutus in all shapes and sizes - and they looked amazing! We were absolutely smashing the stereotypes with a little bit of playful flair and some serious dance moves, darling!

For me, the best part about tutus is how they can truly be anything you want them to be. Wear one with your favourite leggings and a crop top, make it the star of a glamorous evening outfit or dress it up for a fairytale wedding, the possibilities are limitless!

From Stage to Street:

The amazing thing is, even if 2017 wasn’t exactly the same as my time (think, way less sparkly!), people were getting really into tutus and ballerinas in general. There were tons of incredible street-style moments showcasing the tutu, plus fashion designers were working their magic, integrating ballet-inspired elements into their latest collections. It’s no wonder so many of us were loving tutus!

This trend definitely had the potential to make tutus more than just stage costumes, and to put them front and center as statement fashion pieces that oozed personality and grace. We were ready to show the world that the tutu wasn’t just for the stage. It was for every woman, every girl, every soul that wanted to tap into their inner ballerina.

The more we can normalise the tutu outside of ballet classes and performances, the better. It makes us all feel powerful, like little ballerinas ready to dance and embrace the world with open arms (and maybe some adorable tulle) — I mean, who doesn’t want that?

A Magical Train Journey to Inspiration:

Today, we’re not exactly hopping across time zones to visit different shows and meet fellow tutu enthusiasts. This Tuesday, I’m hopping on the train. It’s a favourite of mine – trains and tutus go together perfectly – think classic British countryside romance and swirling tulle in a window seat! I’ve got a ballet-themed magazine in hand, a pack of ballet cookies (don't judge, they are delicious) and my usual supply of shimmering hairspray, ready to embrace the day.

There’s always inspiration to be found on the rails! I’m actually going to one of London’s finest ballet companies to watch a performance - but not before hitting the shops to see what new and glamorous outfits they have for my new ballet shoes! Oh, the joy!

The Dance of Creativity:

It’s amazing how the power of tutus, ballet, and imagination can spark so much joy and beauty in the world! Seeing other girls and women embrace tutus fills me with so much happiness. It makes my heart happy. It inspires my soul to embrace my true self and my love for everything pink and pretty. It gives me the ultimate dance fuel!

The great thing about tutus, just like any artform, is their endless possibilities. They're a blank canvas for your personal creativity, allowing you to show your personality and celebrate individuality. It’s all about expression and that’s what we’re here for.

If you're just starting your tutu journey or are already a seasoned tutu-pro, let's continue celebrating this gorgeous form of art and its history together. You know what they say: every day can be #TutuTuesday!

Stay stylish, sweet, and always dance to your own beat,

Emma
