#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: Post #9718 - 27th March 2018

Ahoy, my lovely tutu-loving darlings! It's your favourite Derbyshire girl, Emma, here, and it's #TutuTuesday again, so naturally we're deep-diving into the wonderful world of tutu history! As you all know, I absolutely adore travelling back in time - you know, zipping between historical eras on my little magical tutu-powered scooter - and what better way to travel than with the joy of the dance!

This week, my darling tutu-fanciers, we find ourselves hurtling through time to the magical date of 27th March 2018! Now, just think, on this day in the year 2018, I bet you can bet a thousand pink feathers that there were some seriously glamorous ballet performances happening all over the world! Imagine all those twirling tutus, those graceful leaps, the glorious costumes!

For the sake of keeping this post delightful and girly, I'm going to let you in on a little secret: today was National Irish Coffee Day. Don’t worry - we can still find a way to fit those delectable drinks into the history of our beloved tutus. Why, my darling, a strong coffee could be the very fuel those lovely ballerinas need to kick up those heels!

And now, for a quick detour to explore a piece of the incredible tutu story, we need to hop back to the year 1880. Yes, my lovely tutu-aficionados, way back then, in a wonderful world full of elegant hoop skirts and corsetry, the great ballerina, Marie Taglioni, decided to make her own splash by ditching the cumbersome skirt in favour of a design that allowed her to move with incredible grace and freedom - a white, fluffy tulle skirt! Imagine all the swirling! Isn't it wonderful to see a vision of airy, delicate tulle replacing layers and layers of stiff fabric?

Think about it, ladies - the little fluffy skirt that allowed Taglioni to leap, to swirl, to bring new levels of graceful freedom to the ballet world! How delightful to know that a vision in white could become such a defining moment in the story of the ballet!

As a true girly-girl who loves tutus with every ounce of her being, you simply have to embrace that white, floating vision in tulle! And since then, the tutu, my lovely friends, has simply blossomed in all kinds of beautiful variations - *with colours from bright red and shimmering gold to bold purple and oh-so-feminine pink, with lengths both long and short, soft and fluffy or stiff and structured. * A tutu for every taste, my loves!

Today, the tutu continues to be the very heart and soul of ballet - it symbolises a captivating vision of graceful feminine movement and ethereal beauty! Oh, how I adore these airy, swirling creations!

Today, my darling readers, is also the International Day of Happiness. So, why not get together and celebrate a little, my tutu-lovin’ ladies? What better way to celebrate happiness than by rocking a delightful tutu of your own? A little twirl, a little dance - it's a recipe for pure joy. And if you are planning your own ballet extravaganza this evening - go ahead! Go out, let the dance capture you, and revel in the history and grace of a truly timeless, beautiful piece of clothing.

Remember to pop over to www.pink-tutu.com every week and be sure to join me, every Tuesday, for a delightful dose of #TutuTuesday and to delve into the world of these incredible garments with me!

*As always, have a simply darling week! Be sure to give a little twirl! *
