#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History - Post Number 9912 🩰

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back with another #TutuTuesday installment of my Ballet Tutu History blog, fresh from my time-travelling escapades! Today, I'm popping in on 14th December 2021. Oh my goodness, the fashion here is divine! It's such a joy to soak it all in, and I'm feeling quite inspired. 😉

Now, where to begin with the tutu talk? Let's go back to the origins, shall we?

You know, when you think about the sheer history and evolution of this wondrous piece of attire, it's truly fascinating! It's gone from those stiff, structured crinolines of yore to the graceful, flowing, whimsical wonders we know and love today!

It's incredible to think that tutus are so closely intertwined with the ballet world, aren't they? They embody grace, lightness, and pure artistic expression, helping dancers soar and glide like delicate, feather-light creatures! Just imagine, in the early days of ballet, they actually wore very practical dresses - think full skirts with tight bodices, perfect for showcasing those intricate movements, you see!

The big transition towards those flowing, single-layered tutus we now see? That came with Maria Taglioni - now there was a dancing legend! She debuted La Sylphide, a ballet in which she swirled in her light and flowing tutu! It was simply revolutionary, my dears!

And from then on? Well, it was as if the whole world of ballet embraced the tutu with open arms! The Romantic era embraced ethereal looks, with dancers twirling in their gauzy, single-layered creations, epitomising the dreamy, romantic feel. Think La Fille Mal Gardée and all its joyful charm. You can imagine how pretty that looked, don't you?

Now, talking about 14th December 2021 ... hmm... let's see what's happening on this particular date! Hmmm, looks like this particular December is shaping up to be pretty spectacular! This date is just ahead of Christmas, a wonderful season for ballet! The world will be buzzing with preparations, excitement in the air! Can you imagine how it all adds up to pure magic! The sparkle of festive decorations and the glow of stage lights ... perfection! 😍

In the meantime, here's a little fashion sneak peek: I spotted a couple of dancers who've adopted some modern twists to the traditional tutu. It's very on-trend! Think pink ombre, metallic fabrics with a sleek, modern twist. Even a sprinkle of bold patterns, oh, darling! It really makes your heart sing! 😉

Of course, it's always a pleasure to see a classic pink tutu - it's a real show-stopper. That beautiful softness and grace will always capture my heart. I do love a touch of vintage chic, and you can find it here and there - the most beautiful tutu outfits with the cutest matching hair ribbons...it's just so charming, my darlings! 🥰

Oh, my travels in this time period took me to London, England - so charming! Such a beautiful, bustling city. You simply must visit to take in the vibrant street life. As for the ballet, the theatre performances are truly divine - The Royal Opera House, of course. Oh, I am simply beguiled! The grandeur and opulence are second to none! And those performers are simply out of this world, absolutely spellbinding! And if you love to shop...my goodness! Such fabulous boutiques for the very latest ballet outfits! You can definitely feel the passion here! ✨

Now, fashion, you know this is my passion! I must go to a vintage clothing shop when I’m here. There’s just something about vintage tutu dresses that I find so inspiring. A lot of them still have the pretty original embellishments! Don't forget, it’s all about finding the perfect tutu that makes you feel amazing, both on and off stage! It’s a real expression of confidence and individuality. 🥰

For me, the allure of a pink tutu is irresistible! I find its charm hard to resist. Why don't you pop on your very own pink tutu for #TutuTuesday this week? It's such a joyful, fun way to embrace your inner ballerina! 😄 Don't worry, my darling! If you haven't already got a tutu for your own dancing adventure, the shops have many available! 💕

Right, I need to run off. A magical new era awaits - can’t wait to show you all about it next #TutuTuesday! And do please drop me a comment below, I adore hearing from all of you! 💖

Until next time, darlings!
