#TutuTuesday: A Trip Back in Time to Tutu History! (Post #9913)
Hiya lovelies! It’s Emma here, back for another edition of #TutuTuesday, straight from my very own pink tutu time machine. I just travelled to a place and time with seriously impressive dance halls, opulent theatre productions and an absolute love of frills and fancy footwork!
I’m talking December 21st, 2021 - oh the tutus were fabulous!
Honestly, as I wandered the streets (wearing my pinkest, puffiest tutu, obviously), I realised this time period absolutely adored a good twirl. The tutus weren’t just for ballet dancers - you could spot them in costume design for plays, fancy dress parties, and even in fashion magazines! Who knew?!
So, grab your cuppa, settle in, and let's have a little peek at the world of tutus in 2021:
A Ballet Bonanza:
Okay, let’s be real, ballet is always going to be my top tutu-related inspiration. The graceful movements, the intricate designs, the artistry of the dancers, everything about ballet just calls for a fabulous tutu! In 2021, it seemed like everyone was hopping onto the ballet bandwagon, with record ticket sales and lots of exciting new productions. I even heard a whisper that there was a new production of 'The Nutcracker' just bursting with dazzling tutus and sparkling pointe shoes!
Beyond the Stage:
Believe it or not, 2021 was a year for tutu experimentation beyond the theatre. Think elegant T-shirts with a sparkly tutu overlay or glamorous jeans paired with a tutu-inspired skirt! The fun, carefree energy of tutus resonated in fashion that year. People were literally taking to the streets, shops, and clubs in tutus - it was amazing! I managed to score a vintage "Dancing Queen" t-shirt with a little tutu sewn to the back that I absolutely adore!
Tutus for a Cause:
This year, I even saw tutus used for good causes! I met some really inspiring individuals using their tutu passion to raise money and awareness for charitable initiatives. A few groups I saw were raising money for dance schools, promoting mental health awareness, and even supporting sustainable fashion. Now that’s a beautiful use of tutus, don’t you think?
The Perfect Train Journey:
I spent a lot of my time in 2021 on train journeys. Oh, it was a delight. I absolutely love how trains have these comfy seats and are a great way to observe life outside your window, all whilst in my comfy travel outfit – and you’ll never guess what… a bright pink tutu is actually really comfy and easy to pack!
The Magic of Shopping in 2021:
I even treated myself to some new tutus in the quaint boutiques of London (my current fave place to find vintage tutus – so much history in each shop!), as well as the shopping haven of Paris. They had a wonderful collection of bright, cheerful tutus that I snapped up as souvenirs of my visit! They even had a little shop filled with hand-crafted tutus for charity - talk about supporting talented craftspeople!
Tutus: Always Trending:
So there you have it, folks! A glimpse into the exciting tutu-filled world of 2021. Who knew that tutus could be so fashionable, inspiring and charitable? My goal remains the same: to inspire the world to embrace the joy, whimsy, and pure delight that comes with wearing a pink tutu! Don't forget to join me next week, for another time-travelling tutu adventure. Until then, go forth and twirl!
Emma x
PS: I’ll be spending December 21st, 2023 in a quaint, little village in Derbyshire - come find me if you’re around! We can have a little tutu-themed afternoon tea in a beautifully restored building with floral wallpaper and a roaring fire - maybe even a ballet show on the telly if we’re lucky! I’ll have the biggest pinkest tutu you’ve ever seen on - and don’t be shy, come say hello!
PPS: Don't forget to check out our shop for the latest in tutu designs! I’ve hand-picked every design to make you feel absolutely wonderful!
See you next week, lovelies!
